…is any good or should we just save for an extra year or two and do Florida?

I’ve never been (obviously) but a few people on my Facebook seem to have gone in the last couple of months but I just haven’t been wowed by their photos.

So much easier logistically than Florida, obviously.

It’s good, but I prefer Florida. Florida has (like everything) risen in price and is mega expensive though, so you’ll be saving a while longer

AdriannaP · 13/11/2022 22:16

IME you can spend 1-3 days there but not more. It’s quite small compared to Florida. Definitely not enough for a week. I would go for a long weekend or save for Florida.

user1487194234 · 13/11/2022 22:17

What age are your Dc
We did DP a few times when they were under 7,and did Florida when they were older

AdriannaP · 13/11/2022 22:17

also depends a bit on age of the kids. I think 2-3 days Eurodisney is plenty for smaller kids.

User0610134057 · 13/11/2022 22:18

We recently went to the Paris one for 3 nights 4 days. We wanted to see if we enjoyed that rather then fork out straight away for florida.
Aside from the fact we’re splitting up so it was a horrendous week in some ways, I really liked Paris and found it plenty big enough with loads of walking and quite overwhelming enough.

Pearfacebanana · 13/11/2022 22:18

It's great - depends how much you want to spend. Florida is a whole different ball game £ wise.

boobot1 · 13/11/2022 22:22

I much prefer paris, quality over quantity. Especially the castle. Florida is too american, very commercial, put me off.

SEND2022 · 13/11/2022 22:25

We loved Paris, it has a very different charm to florida.

We've just got back from Florida. Definitely huge in comparison but also quite overwhelming and stressful. In lots of ways I prefer Paris.

ApplePieFry · 13/11/2022 22:25

Not worth it imo

also per day it’s often not cheaper than Florida, we go annually to disneyworld and have only been to DLP once, it’s just a shit version imo

FancySomeChips · 13/11/2022 22:30

Took DD several times to Paris as my brother lived very nearby for a few years. It was great. My daughter wants to go back again and always has done.
We were gifted a holiday to the Florida one and it is was totally different- amazing, but the crowds were mega, I wouldn’t ever save for years to take a child under age 10.
The Paris one has a charm the Florida one def does not but Florida has all the extras- animal kingdom, Disney studios, downtown Disney is fun, bibbedy bobbedy boutique etc
paris is also sooooo simple travel wise

lechatnoir · 13/11/2022 22:31

DLP you could do for a short break around £2k. I doubt you'd get far under £10k for Florida and would really want to be there a good week more likely longer and nearer £15k. Whole different ball game. If money is no object Florida is brilliant but we loved DLP and felt like we got a Disney experience.

OrigamiOwls · 13/11/2022 22:33

Florida is a much bigger experience to Paris. Personally I'd save up and go to Florida. Paris is cute but much less to do (2 parks & small entertainment area Vs 4 parks, 2 waterparks & large entertainment area)

earsup · 13/11/2022 22:35

went years ago....took students for a conference....food grim...walls paper thin...no sleep...everyone looked like they were zombified on valium...we wanted to put ecstasy in the drinking water....dont think we saw anyone smile...would rather spend a weekend in blackpool....!!!

PuttingDownRoots · 13/11/2022 22:36

Different strokes.

We enjoyed our three days at DLP. Have absolutely no desire to go to Florida. Other holidays we would rather spend our money on (plus Florida is 4 years holiday budget...). But we aren't big theme park people.

WTFdidwedo · 13/11/2022 22:37

We've done Florida about 8 times but unfortunately are now completely priced out as a family of 5, so have started visiting Paris instead using annual passes. You can't really compare the two experiences, Paris is more charming and a lot of the rides which feature in both countries are actually better than their Florida counterparts eg. Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, but Florida is a full on 2-3 week experience which now requires more planning than ever post-covid.

I would do Paris and see how you find it before looking at Florida, and be prepared to need to save more than justn an extra year or two to afford it with the current trajectory of Orlando's price hikes. It's obscene.

PurpleButterflyWings · 13/11/2022 22:39

We went on a reasonably priced coach trip - 3 nights/4 days in the late noughties, and my kids LOVED it. Was way cheaper than America then, I don't know if it still is. It's been 16-17 years or so since we went.

PurpleButterflyWings · 13/11/2022 22:40

Our trip included a day in Paris too. So win win!

Southland02 · 13/11/2022 22:40

DC is young, too young for Florida certainly but DH says he doesn’t want to do both so we can either wait and go to Florida when they’re a bit older or go to DLP within the next 6 months.

I think I need to research DLP a bit more. Are there adult rides there too? (Sorry if that’s a stupid Q but all the photos I see, they seem to be rides for like 6-7 year olds, whereas with Florida there’s something for everyone)

Paris is awful compared with Florida.

PMSL @boobot1 - Florida too American? No shit!

How young is too young?

if it’s a case of only doing one definitely wait.

Floralnomad · 13/11/2022 22:43

I love Paris , I’ve been to the Florida ones a couple of times and aside from Epcot I wasn’t that bothered . We’ve been going to DLP regularly since it opened and always have a great time .

ChickinMarango · 13/11/2022 22:44

It depends on how old DC are but we went when our oldest was 15 months and again when she was 4.5 yrs and her sister 4 months. Of course if it’s a once in a lifetime holiday then I’d definitely wait until 7/8 years old. I wouldn’t be going to DLP though, it’s not a patch on Florida.

Blankscreen · 13/11/2022 22:45

We went this year. 11 and 8 year olds.
They both loved it and want to go back.
I love the idea of Florida but it is £££ so I just can't see it every happening.

I'd rather have a skiing holiday a 3 night break at DLP and a summer holiday somewhere.

PumpkinDart · 13/11/2022 22:45

I love Paris, different people like different things but the Florida obsession goes over my head to be honest. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Florida but nothing has come close to the magic of Paris for me, there was something about Florida that just didn't feel the same. Also lots of parts of Orlando smelled weirdly like cheese.

Yes there's Tower of Terror, Crush's Coaster, RC Racer, Rock 'n' Roller, Space Mountain and Indiana Jones which are more geared at 10+ then family rides like Big Thunder, and more gentle ones like Peter Pan and other dark rides. WDW has a lot more aimed at adults.

If you're only doing one then I'd save for Florida, but you'd be looking at at least £10k for two weeks in school holidays.
