To not clean the car again?

Not sure if I’m being lazy, and am feeling bad so want some outside views

DH is out with the kids today, both our cars are absolutely filthy as we haven’t been bothered to get our usual car cleaner round for 6 weeks.

I woke up today and thought to myself I’ll clean them both, as a nice surprise for when DH comes home.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and recently hit the ‘wall’ and everything hurts so not sure why I decided to even do this but hey, I’m a sucker for punishment apparently.

so I’ve cleaned the inside and outside of both cars (took over an hour and a half) but now they have dried DHs car somehow looks dirtier on the outside than before, i think it was so dirty before, that me washing it has just smeared the dirt all over (it’s also a black car so all marks show)

Im knackered and think it might need to be cleaned again to look nice. AIBU to just leave it, I get so annoyed when he does a half job so I’d be a massive hypocrite and now I’m feeling a bit guilty.

What would you all do

YABU clean it again

YANBU leave it

Don't clean it again. Just leave it.

AlwaysLatte · 13/11/2022 16:38

Send him to take it through the car wash while you put your feet up and have a well deserved rest.

JudithHarper · 13/11/2022 16:41

I never, ever wash cars. Mines black but it looks at least as clean as the bloke opposite who cleans his at least twice a week.

This is where I went wrong, I should have never started with the cleaning.

have FaceTimed my mum to show her the car and she nearly pissed herself laughing it’s that mucky Blush

Might run the cloth over it again and see if it makes it better

I’d run it through a car wash and take the credit for doing it myself.

PandaOrLion · 13/11/2022 16:48

I def care more about the inside being clean than the outside but I think I’d prob go to a drive through car wash if there is one near you to get the outside done again. I wouldn’t do it myself this time.

bellac11 · 13/11/2022 16:49

Clean a car?

What does this mean?

Gumreduction · 13/11/2022 16:50

martyr

Applecottagetree · 13/11/2022 17:04

Just go through the cheapest option on the drive thru car wash

ToInfinityAgain · 13/11/2022 17:08

DH takes ours to the local hand car was place very couple of weeks, bringing them back immaculate, and all he’s had to to is sit there reading a book while ten people rinse, wash, dry and polish it.

Do this.

What’s worse is both cars would look 100% better and would have been done in a fraction of the time.

Never doing anything to be ‘nice’ again Blush

DH loves his cars, loves tinkering, changing things on them and so on, but especially in the winter the washing them is a job he’s very happy to pay someone else to do.

Really, honestly....

Don't do that.

Save your energy for growing a human inside you.

Maybe try adjusting what you think of as doing something 'nice'. Focus on the things only you can do for your family like have a baby, looking after you and the baby.

Just a gentle warning: this kind of burst of energy, has been known to come immediately before Labour.

Hope all goes well for you and your family.

rickandmorts · 13/11/2022 17:49

OP I made the same mistake a few years ago and now I refuse to clean the outside of my car, it always looks shit! Every few months I take it down the hand car wash and pay 6 quid to get it done, takes 10 mins and looks far far better than I could ever do. I'm happy to vac the inside and polish the dust off but I will never clean the outside again 🙈 (also have a black car)

Proamble · 13/11/2022 17:51

Just take it somewhere and let them do it. That’s what we do, and the person who takes it gets a nice break from the childminding and other chores, with a coffee and a book whilst they wait.

Tiani4 · 13/11/2022 17:53

Hehe!
You cleaned the inside at 30 weeks pg
And attempted the outside but smeared the dirt as it was too dirty.

Frankly you've done enough
Yanbu
Leave it
Your partner can clean it
He isn't heavily pregnant
You re building a baby and that is EXHAUSTING!

I have 3 DCs, 6 pgs (2 late MCs) and did so much on my own and I managed by knowing what is important and what isn't, this isn't. It isn't lazy to stop, it is sensible

Your partner or the rain can clean outside of the cars 😆😎

ApplePieFry · 13/11/2022 19:11

I bit the bullet and wiped down the outside again, looks a lot better and only needed a quick wipe (win!!)

Managed to craft a makeshift hose with an empty bottle of Pepsi max with holes cut in the top to rinse it off properly and it almost looks new.

DH is now home, very happy with the car and came bearing a pizza for me to enjoy so will be indulging after my busy afternoon Halo
