I got a new job - within the same department. I applied online so came as a shock when I told management (we don’t have internal promotion opportunities)

My manager now doesn’t bother with me ie doesn’t say hello or check in. She’s put me on restricted duties. I was her deputy but she’s removed me from management group chats/meetings and asked someone else to do what was my work. I’m no longer deputising for her which comes at a slight pay decrease.

She didn’t decide to do this alone tho, all the managers have agreed this is for the best and have distanced themselves from me a bit.

Aibu to be annoyed? In an ideal world I need to leave this job smoothly as I may work with them in the future so I’m trying to be super nice but deep down I’m not feeling supported

So you are no longer a manager?
It makes sense she's had to remove you from the roles if you have got a new role as I assume you no longer do those and she will need to get someone else to cover those

I'd probably be a bit miffed also if you didn't give me the heads up but I guess if you didn't give her a heads up about new role then she probably feels she doesn't need to discuss any further work stuff with tou

Were you employed as the deputy manager, they cannot change your salary without consulting you and hr. What do you mean by restricted duties, how long is your notice period. Did they know you were applying for a new job, it all seems rather childish and unprofessional

Yes, which was my job duty. She didn’t have to remove me, as everyone who has left to date has kept their current responsibilities until the day the leave. I’ve been singled out. Bear in mind I’m still working in the same company so the knowledge isn’t lost and updates etc wouldn’t be wasted

I gave her the head’s up when I had the interview as I needed time off. I wasn’t expecting her to act like this once I got the job.

Thank you. Restricted duties are basic admin work that anyone can do eg replying to group email inboxes and answering phone calls which usually others in the office who aren’t deputies do. 4 weeks of notice so I’m just trying to salvage any network I can but I am a bit confused
