To ask what show I should go and see?

DH and I thought about getting tickets for a show as a Christmas gift but this year has got away from me and I don’t know what to see.

Hamilton: absolutely amazing
Come From Away: absolutely amazing

We’re in London but doesn’t have to be West End - seen great stuff at Wimbledon and Richmond.

Any recommendations?

I’d prefer a more adult themed story, musical or play is fine - just really good production values.

Any suggestions?

Book of Mormon or Les Mis. Dear Evan Hansen was amazing but it’s ended

Peashoots · 10/11/2022 20:26

Les Mis-oldie but oh my god wow. Just spectacular in every way.
dear Evan Hansen was great, Book of Mormon was hilarious but not for the faint hearted 😁 if you don’t like near the knuckle humour then avoid.

Yes - replacing Dear Evan Hansen for 12 weeks from February. I am going because I have no idea what it is going to be like!

Stellar cast to be fair, John Owen-Jones. He says it’s one of the best things he’s done.

Thats good then - looking forward to seeing it

It's not a "show" show and isn't as long but I bloody loved Choir of Man

@AnnPerkins

We saw TKAM with Rafe Spall a few months ago and it was amazing - absolutely mesmerising, wasn’t it?

Absolutely! We saw it with Rafe Spall too. We spent a load of theatre vouchers on great seats in the stalls for a 30th wedding anniversary treat. Totally worth it.

RosieRiveting · 11/11/2022 11:19

Cabaret, absolutely Cabaret.

Merryoldgoat · 11/11/2022 19:08

@PurpleFlower1983

Well I love GBBO so I’ll try it - so unexpected but I’m in!

@AnnPerkins

PIL bought us tickets as a gift and we were SO close - I was covered in goosebumps.

I love the theatre.

Id like to see a ballet but DH not keen. MIL might like it though…

Come from Away is incredible, if anyone hasn't yet seen it please do before it goes. I also really loved life of Pi, which suprised me as the book bored me but the staging was perfect. & Juliet was fun and left you smiling, but very lightweight. Book of Mormon was also brilliant, again I was suprised as I don't like much the writers have done other than this.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/11/2022 12:59

Life of Pi was amazing. I saw it the same weekend as I saw Les Mis and I would say I much preferred it. It is stunning.

Endwalker · 12/11/2022 13:18

If you see a ballet then go for Matthew Bourne, either Nutcracker or Sleeping Beauty. I think both are on tour. They're both visually spectacular.

ChineAndWheeseParty · 12/11/2022 13:22

We adored Waitress, but it does seem to be a bit marmite

TheFlis12345 · 12/11/2022 13:22

Have you seen Les Mis? If not then that, 100%. I am a huge Hamilton fan but Les Mis is my second favourite.

Gazelda · 12/11/2022 13:29

Witness For The Prosecution is great. It's at County Hall and a fabulous setting.

Other than that, I'd always go for Les Mis, Lion King, &Juliet, Six, Play That Goes Wrong.
