Joules scam

Huntswomanonthemove · 10/11/2022 08:53

I was nearly scammed by a Joules fake website. I know I’m not unreasonable to warn others about this. It’s an excellent copy of Joules and gives money off a lot of their range.

edited by MNHQ to remove website name.

Hardly advertising is it? OP is warning others in case they get caught out. Public Service Announcement - thanks 😊

Teadrinkingmumofone · 10/11/2022 09:39

Why would you think that web address was the Joules website?

That's horrible. It might actually help someone.

Not really. I would keep it quiet if I had fallen for anything so glaring too. PP was just being bracingly honest.

That’s a completely bizarre URL.

Some kind of vanity scam by invitation?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/11/2022 09:42

How did you come across that site?

If you can't see that the link looks wildly off then yes it is idiocy.

FromageRouge · 10/11/2022 09:43

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/11/2022 09:42

How did you come across that site?

Scam email probably. “As a valued buyer or daschund-appliquéd Bretons…..”

toastedcat · 10/11/2022 09:44

@Elfonthewealth what a nasty person you are.

ChickinBell · 10/11/2022 09:44

Christ , some posters haven't had their saucer of milk this morning
@Huntswomanonthemove was trying to raise awareness , that's all

FromageRouge · 10/11/2022 09:45

Sorry. I didn’t get the (scam) email that we had become Netmums.

Aww hunny!!!! #BeKind

Etc.

RambamThankyouMam · 10/11/2022 09:47

Joulesukvip looks dodgy as hell, to be honest. I'm not sure many people would be fooled.

Who does advertising your nastiness help?

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2022 09:56

@Elfonthewealth you OK?

LivMumsnet · 10/11/2022 09:59

Morning - it's fair enough to raise awareness of any concerns about sites that aren't what they appear - however we've now edited out the exact web address from your original post, OP, as we think that's probably for the best.

melj1213 · 10/11/2022 10:00

Honestly, having looked at the website from the OP, if you don't notice it isn't the proper site from the website URL alone, just a cursory look at the website makes it obvious that it isn't the real one.

Ah come on. It is a veritable trope now. Every few weeks some posts to warn about some obvious thing or other.

Then the kindergarten teachers line up to insist we should pretend it could happen to anyone. Most of them sound not entirely in earnest anyway.

It doesn’t come up when you Google either. Which raises some questions. Where did it come from? Did OP want us all to click it?

Nevermind engaging our brains, though. Let’s all concentrate on being kind and giggling.

FromageRouge · 10/11/2022 10:05

Seriously, anyone who clicked it should run their antivirus and what have you.

Facebook.

Huntswomanonthemove · 10/11/2022 10:17

I’m really pleased that peeps are so good at spotting scams. I also realised it’s a scam but from some of the posts I saw on FB, some people were taken in by it. IMHO opinion, it’s very useful to highlight the dangers of scams. Not everyone is so good at spotting them.

FromageRouge · 10/11/2022 10:19

OP, the rule is only ever trust an official link (such as in an email you requested) or a verified “official” search result from a proper search engine.

In the same way that if someone phones claiming to be the bank, you return the call on a number you hold for the bank, not the one the caller leaves.

Those random links online are all like junk mail. Ignore them all. Just never click them. Also never post them elsewhere.
