to buy sheets from tesco

tescosheets · 09/11/2022 14:23

Like most people I cant afford to buy new sets every week, but will pay for something that is going to last. I payed about £50 for my cotton set with a nice pattern on a few years ago from m&co. Went bad after the first few washes.
I am considering just going with tesco this time around.

TIA

I’ve bought Tesco sheets/duvet covers before & been totally fine. IKEA are the best for cheap & long lasting if you live near one though - I’ve had sets that cost £20 for over 20 years now and still fine!

YANBU, we have the West Park 100% Cotton 200 Thread Count fitted sheets from Tesco.

They are fab. They were then reduced to £5 in the sale and I got some more.

I also love the Debenhams Collection 100% cotton non-iron fitted sheet. Brilliant quality, £12 in the sale but I don't know if they do them anymore.

My favourite sheets are the Sanderson cotton sateen sheets but they are pricey.

bigfamilygrowingupfast · 09/11/2022 14:33

I won't buy anything other than M&S for bedding! Best quality and not over priced in my opinion

hostawater · 09/11/2022 14:33

Good Housekeeping really rates the Fox & Ivy towels from Tesco, so they've clearly got some good suppliers for their homeware.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2022 14:34

I buy from tesco, asda, argos, etc. Never had an issue

Picklypickles · 09/11/2022 14:35

I don't think it really matters, in the last 2/3 years I've had a £60 cotton set from Dunelm Mill and a £20 brushed cotton set from Sainsburys and both are still prefectly good. I'd have no problem buying a set from Tesco if I saw anything I actually liked in there, I looked recently and it was all very boring!

courgettigreensadwater · 09/11/2022 14:36

If you mean M and S I always bought mine from there too, the Egyptian cotton ones and the latest one, after a couple of washes it was awful. I took it back for a refund. No way should that sort of cotton go bobbly. Like a PP said Tesco sheets are great and I swear by Asda 100% cotton or brushed cotton duvet sets. £21 for a King set normal price 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I have a Fox & Ivy brand duvet set from Tesco. 100% cotton. Lovely quality and feel to it. Really recommend buying from that range.

mouse70 · 09/11/2022 14:44

Marks and Spencer Sheets and Duvet covers bought 35 years ago still going strong!!!

NannyR · 09/11/2022 14:50

I've also got a fox and ivy set from tesco that is lovely, 100% cotton too which is tricky to find in cheaper ranges. I also got a really nice set from IKEA a few years ago - it was mid-range price and its great quality, thick, smooth cotton. IKEA do have some cheaper stuff though that isn't particularly great quality.

SallyWD · 09/11/2022 15:07

Why would you be biting new sheets every week?! Ours last for years! But yes, tescos is fine.

workingeverysingkeday · 09/11/2022 15:16

Who buys sheets every week. What new hell is this?

Iwantmyoldnameback · 09/11/2022 15:20

I have bedding from Dunelm, Tesco, Asda and Saintsburys. I will admit the Dunelm is the nicest but the rest is fine for spare rooms.

SicParvisMagna · 09/11/2022 15:20

As an ex Tesco employee I bought a lot of bedding from them. The fox and Ivy range and West Park are just as comparable to anything else I've bought (silentnight etc). Just go for a higher thread count and you'll be fine. Their stuff washes well. We did have one set that did fade slightly but it was a dark navy patterned set and I was my bedding on 60 so that's why. The white sheets we have are always perfectly clean and still lovely and white. No problems with quality whatsoever.

Also who are these people buying sheets every week?

Bananalanacake · 09/11/2022 15:21

I often see sheets being sold in charity shops and at car boot sales, but this being MN everyone will say 'ew, how disgusting are second hand sheets' so I won't bother mentioning it.

Totally agree about IKEA sheets, I have some that are 30+ years old and seem to be indestrucible. More recently I have bought sheets from Sainsbury's, all cotton , and they've been very good.

Got my last lot from Primark. Cheap and they wash lovely.

Stickmansmum · 09/11/2022 15:47

Linenbundle, amazing quality and I’ve tried lots on all ranges of the price spectrum.

MrsMigginsCat · 09/11/2022 15:49

Why wouldn't you buy sheets from Tesco? I have bedding from all sorts of shops: The White Company, M&S, Dunelm, Asda etc. They are all fine.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 09/11/2022 16:26

Are you seriously asking this question?

Tesco sheets are fine. Personally my favourites are from La Redoute, they have the deepest fitted sheets that are 100% cotton. Not the cheapest but they often have great deals.

CactusFlowers · 09/11/2022 16:58

Tk Maxx is also worth a look as they often have brands reduced. Next and sainburys aren’t bad wither but avoid the Polycotton ones.

Hairdresse · 09/11/2022 17:03

You say you can’t afford to buy new sheets weekly, but reference M&Co sheets you bought years ago that were ruined after the first washes. When you thought the quality was bad, did you just keep using them? You could have returned for fault or replaced the set. There’s a difference between buying sheets every week vs every few years

you can buy bedding from anywhere you want to, no one’s going to judge you for a set from Tesco. I will echo that ikea quality is fine but their pillowcases can be oversized

Laiste · 09/11/2022 17:09

I buy Dorma. Nothing else.

DurhamDurham · 09/11/2022 17:12

I don't think M&Co is anything special so I don't think you'd need to worry that Tesco bedding would be in anyway inferior.
I like M&S or Ikea, lasts for years.
