To think I'm not entirely to blame?

Kids (10&12) on a school trip. Letter said pocket money allowed, no more than £5.

I forgot to give them their money. I was on the way to get it when DD asked me to find her gloves, then I forgot.

I wanted to double check the letter before they left as I'd the impression I forgot something but DH threw it with the recycling.

Neither reminded me. Neither asked when I asked if they had everything. And neither got their stuff ready last night when I asked them to.

Another mum has helpfully pointed out they will be the only children without money on them.

They will be back soon, how much of the fault lies with me?

yABU - your fault entirely, you should be more organised.
YANBU - they're old enough to take some responsibility, they could have asked, or taken some from their wallet.

They probably won't even need extra money with them, that other mother sounds like an asshole saying that when you could do nothing about it. Don't worry about it, I always sent mine on trips with some pocket money, most times they didn't even use it

At ages 10 and 12 they need to check what they are taking. This may well be a useful lesson for the future.

The other mum sounds like a judgy pita!! It’s not the end of the world, surely it’d only get spent on sweets and tat anyway?

No one is to blame. It’s a mistake. Maybe they’ll learn from it though, next time they might be more active in checking they have everything they need?
