To have a rant about airline seat booking?

Just trying to book an airline seat (where you pay to book a seat). When I first tried to book it, the payment for the seat left my account, but I then got a message saying there’s been an error so the seat booking couldn’t be confirmed. The airline then refunded me the money for the seat.

I’ve just contacted customer services to ask if they can book the seat for me and it’s such a faff. Is it worth booking a pre-paid seat?? I don’t think I’ve done it before - it’s just, as it’s a long haul flight, I just thought it might be worth it.

You probably did the pragmatic thing but I must admit I'd have politely run the situation past the cabin crew anyway...(for example to establish for certain if was it only the son who was in the wrong seat).

Sometimes, but not always, being seen to be gracious can bring it's rewards, though maybe not on the scale of an upgrade...

Yes cabin crew were involved. I was hoping for an upgrade obvs, but had to settle for the aisle seat in front of the huge disabled bloody mother

Ah OK missed that detail...not much more could be done then but I understand your annoyance.

@ranrandomusername666 the way you keep repeating "huge disabled bloody mother" is extremely unbecoming. I'm not easily offended but I can't believe you've not been pulled up on it yet. You sound vile.

@Amandasummers
I'm not easily offended

Are you sure about that?

'Unbecoming'?! How quaint.

Agree, no need to keep repeating your description of her. Putting her size to one side, is there a reason why you didn't want to sit next to a disabled person?

Don't forget that being obese is the worst thing a person can be on mumsnet

SHE WAS FUCKING HUGE, spilled over both sides of her seat..... and the son wouldn't move without a fight. And because she was disabled as well as being huge, I would have been stuck there for 10 hours or have to clamber over her. Apart from that no reason at all.

Thanks for pulling me up on it, gets that out the way.

BTW huge can be 'tall' as well as 'wide'.
