Hi all, I'm wondering if you can help me. My daughter went back to school and was fine Monday but visabilly unwell when I collected her Tuesday she was shivering but hot to touch complaining of a sore throat and headache. I contacted 111 Tuesday evening as noticed she had white spots over her tonsils and the GP diagnosed tonsillitis. She was unwell Wednesday and Thursday but much better by Friday however she woke up with really sore lips which just looked like chapped lips the pharmacy recommend vaseline so we've been apply that. However this morning she's women with a rash all round her mouth and sores. She's struggling to eat anything as her mouth is so sore. I have contacted our of hours once again to see if there is any creams to ease her mouth pain but could anyone have a look at the photo and tell me what you think and if there is anything I can do to help her. Thankyou

Blistex is better than Vaseline in my experience for chapped lips. Looks really sore, poor girl.

MisgenderedSwan · 06/11/2022 08:33

My dd had psoriasis around his mouth that looked like this - I would see if you can get a GP appointment for her, it went on for ages and was really sore. When he had hand foot and mouth it was more like blisters.

Thankyou, I'll pop to the shops once they open and get her some. They are so sore I feel so bad for her I've tried everything to soothe them for her 😭

Thankyou, I will be calling the gp at 8am tommorow. I just thought with being as she's been ill with her throat and now this it might be connected. The spots round the bottom of her mouth have started to look like little blisters which is what made me think possible HFM

Take her with you to the pharmacy, they'll be able recommend something by looking at it .

pavillion1 · 06/11/2022 10:00

Buy her some meta tone , it's great a building immunity up again after illness

pastabakeonaplate · 06/11/2022 10:06

Has she got tiny dots anywhere else? Like on her hands or feet. Or her tounge?

awakenme · 06/11/2022 10:08

Could it be covid mouth? My sister had this recently.

emark · 06/11/2022 10:09

Possibly Impetigo

Jubaju · 06/11/2022 10:11

The start of impetigo if she’s run down?

HappyScot2022 · 06/11/2022 10:13

My children both just had HFM and both had tonsillitis at the same time. My daughter had ulcers in her mouth but my son had spots around his mouth. Their skin went very dry too.

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 06/11/2022 10:20

One of my twins had very similar round his mouth when they had HFM last year. I’d see if you can speak to a pharmacist today (maybe one in a local supermarket?) and see if they can recommend anything you can apply to it as it does look very uncomfortable for her

FibroMummy · 06/11/2022 10:28

Thankyou we took her to the pharmacy when the soreness first started and they recommend vaseline but it doesn't seem to be helping but we are going to take her to the pharmacy again today to see if they have any other suggestions.

I did think impetigo. She has been poorly so she could be run down from that

She needs like a fungal cream I think .

StellaElevator · 06/11/2022 10:34

That doesn’t look like how my son presented with HFM recently. Does she also have a rash on her palms and feet?

take her back to see a pharmacist today if you can and then GP tomorrow. Hope she feels better soon. Lots of viruses going round at the moment

EnterHere · 06/11/2022 10:53

It doesn't look like hand foot and mouth.
I hope you get something to help.

FibroMummy · 06/11/2022 12:13

Took her into a boots pharmacy who said impetigo so had to wait for the doctor to call. Doctor thankfully called back pretty quickly and she's now got antibiotic cream for 7 days so hopefully this helps her.

Does anyone know how long she is required to be kept away from school for, I won't be sending her while it's still so sore but just want to know as I know the school with have no clue.

At our school you can return 48 hours after you start the antibiotic cream. Hope she feels better soon
