Why do people get so offended about offers on houses?

On MN I always see posters saying CF offers on houses. To me it's a business transaction , I won't be paying the bills on the house the buyers will be. I've apparently gained 75k of equity in my house since 2020 I haven't done anything to earn that just sat in my house. I'm now not annoyed it will decrease in value as every other house will.

I don't get the anger towards it. People have an obligation to put their own financial security above a stranger.

Like you said, it's a business transaction. In business, if you make a promise (even one that isn't legally binding) and then renegotiate it on a whim or because you think you can squeeze more for your own pocket at a business associate's expense then you'll be judged accordingly. Good business is about honour, trust and reasonable behaviour as well as making money - it's not about screwing people over. In business, if you're untrustworthy then people won't want to do business with you or will only do it on unfavourable terms - and then, in the end, you lose out. You can't do business on your own.

I think it's when someone wants to reduce an offer, for example 2 months after the original offer was accepted (and not due to findings in the survey).
