Noise complaint

I moved into a rented terraced house, from a flat, in August. I live with my two DS, 13 and 14. One side of me is a mother and daughter (ages around 65 and 35) and the other is a single woman (mid to late 60s)

I was told on Monday that there had been a noise complaint and that it invited a visit from a housing officer. The visit happened yesterday and I was told that the complaint was that my neighbour could hear me having sex (mortifying!!)

The walls are extremely thin, I can hear my neighbours sneeze, their TV, when they walk up the stairs....
I would consider my sex life to be pretty 'normal' and I only see my partner every other weekend. I don't think we are particularly loud but will obviously be more mindful.

Do I speak to my neighbour and clear the air or leave it and move on?

I’d leave it and move on.

If I were in their shoes, I’d accept that the walls are paper thin, people have lives to lead, and if I were to hear anything from your bedroom I’d put headphones in and listen to music or watch something, maybe get ear plugs if trying to sleep. Unless you were swinging from the chandeliers and being disrespectfully loud .. then I’d address it in some way.

Instead, they’ve created an embarrassing situation for you, which is a shame. But .. it’s definitely not worth losing sleep over, and I wouldn’t bring it up.
