Completely took me by surprise.

Ah, I did this when I dropped my pram off. And I don't cry easily (or I didn't, before I had children!)

TigerPants · 28/01/2008 22:37

It's a rite of passage.

hewlettsdaughter · 28/01/2008 22:37

It's all to do with the memories attached, isn't it.

NKF · 28/01/2008 22:37

I blubbed at the tip when getting rid of a baby bath.

viggoswife · 28/01/2008 22:38

I cant do it. All my baby clothes are stashed in various cupboards round the house.

platesmasher · 28/01/2008 22:38

I wanted to tell the poor woman in the shop about my children like some sort of weirdo.

Well i'm not even a mum yet, but i'm such a sentimental whally when it comes to my nephew. His mum has got rid of all his old baby clothes, but while she wasn't looking i stole a pair of his little trousers, a favourite jumper he had and a tiny pair of slippers

My arguement was, "what if he needs them for a school topic"

Flibbertyjibbet · 28/01/2008 22:40

I've had moments like this when I've posted stuff that people have bought off me on ebay - my boys finish with stuff ages ago, I have weeks of taking pics, watching the bids, taking payment.... then when it actually LEAVES MY HAND at the post office I want to snatch it back and take it home again!
The thought of all the bad feedback I'd get stops me

platesmasher · 28/01/2008 22:40

what sort of school topic????

OP posts:
platesmasher · 28/01/2008 22:47

Does it mean that I want more children?

OP posts:
thelittleElf · 28/01/2008 22:49

Well i know that in reception class it's quite normal for them to do an 'all about me' topic, in which they might need to take in their first clothes/toys etc.

platesmasher · 28/01/2008 22:57

I've kept a few things. Their little hats they wore on their first photo's and a couple of favourite little outfits. I drove away from the charity shop really questioning why i was so upset. I think the only way i would decide to have another child would be if i didn't need to be pregnant, or give birth, and it was guaranteed to be a girl, and we'd won the lottery.

Feel much better about it today. Want to get rid of everything now. Moving on.

I'm just about to send a huge pile of baby stuff to the NCT sale - I will blub, definitely. I will also blub when dh has his vasectomy next week, even though I def do not want any more children. I am a sentimental fool...

duchesse · 29/01/2008 11:36

I sold a little dress on ebay, and got as far as packaging it up to send, when a visceral reaction against parting with it. I made up a poor excuse and withdrew from the sale. Cost me the ad fees, but I STILL HAVE THE DRESS!!

platesmasher · 29/01/2008 11:37

do you think it's because the decision not to have more children is made more by the head than the heart?

OP posts:
platesmasher · 29/01/2008 11:38

or the wallet?

I cried when I got rid of the ancient old nappies which 3 children had worn. I don't know how you can get so attached to nappies it's not as though I enjoyed changing them.
