Could I put this in my 4 year old’s lunchbox?

He is so fussy with things kind sandwiches, wraps, cheese, yogurts etc.

But what he loves is couscous and strangely kidney beans.
I was thinking I could do him a bean salad with couscous? Or would that be inappropriate?

OP posts:

Why would it be inappropriate?

handmademitlove · 01/11/2022 18:26

None of my kids have sandwiches due to a combination of allergies and other issues. It is not an issue at all. Salads, cold meats, soup. All okay.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/11/2022 18:26

Would be great I think.

LuciferRising · 01/11/2022 18:26

Not sure why you wouldn't? I do DD a fermions of this with edamame and butter beans.

LynetteScavo · 01/11/2022 18:27

What inappropriate about it? Get him a bento box and put bits in each section.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/11/2022 18:27

Probably the clue as to why OP is asking is that her child is 4 - she’s right at the beginning of this show!

LuciferRising · 01/11/2022 18:27

Fermions? What is that? Version!

stuntbubbles · 01/11/2022 18:27

Depends on the size of the lunchbox, surely.

RedLem0nade · 01/11/2022 18:27

Sounds fab! I’ve done couscous with finely chopped veggies for mine, and noodle salad sometimes. They love it and I feel mighty self-satisfied (which is the main thing, obviously).

bodgerandbadgerrr · 01/11/2022 18:28

I get the packet cous cous for aldi and send that in with various things chicken etc so it’ll be fine I’m sure

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 01/11/2022 18:28

Sounds amazing- go for it!

TheSausageKingofChicago · 01/11/2022 18:30

I used to do couscous, pasta or rice salads for mine.

Hobbitfeet32 · 01/11/2022 18:32

Genuine question…why do you think it might be inappropriate?

DearOohDear · 01/11/2022 18:33

As a PP said , @Magicmouse may be new to school lunches @Hobbitfeet32 , it's a mine field out there Grin

ladygindiva · 01/11/2022 18:36

Not weird at all. I have an extremely fussy DD aged 5 ( awaiting autism assessment) and I've often cooked her a turkey dinosaur in the morning to go in her lunch as she eats very little that's filling.

gogohmm · 01/11/2022 18:38

Mine often had couscous

Are you planning on forming it into the shape of a cock and balls? If so yes, it would be. If not, it sounds great.

takealettermsjones · 01/11/2022 18:46

I am the four year old the OP is talking about!

Only kidding (obviously). It's fine OP 😊

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 01/11/2022 18:46

Will he spill it and get Couscous everywhere? Because that stuff is murder to clean up and the lunchtime staff might not thank you for it. If he's fairly tidy then crack on

Christmaslover2022 · 01/11/2022 18:51

No that's not strange! I send mine with thermos pots with all sorts, left over dinner, cheesy pasta, spag bol etc

SchrodingersKettle · 01/11/2022 18:53

Oh my goodness only give him couscous if he is amazing with his cutlery- couscous will go everywhere! Although at least when it dries it goes hard and can be vacuumed.

I dare you! Grin

Derbee · 01/11/2022 20:09

Don’t know why people are being sarcastic, to a perfectly reasonable question. I think it mostly depends on your individual child - will it be horrifically messy, or is he able to eat couscous etc without a massive mess? That would be the decider for me
