Indorex for spiders?

shooshoospiders · 01/11/2022 15:12

Hi, posting for traffic!

Does indorex truly work on getting rid of spiders? I’ve tried peppermint sprays, branded repellent sprays specifically for spiders, but nope still get them, despite people swearing by it!

At £16 a can on amazon it’s pricey but i’m desperate at this point, i’m tired of seeing the fuckers everyday since moving to ground floor (and loads of bushes outside my window 🙄)

Thanks all

In my experience, yes it does work. I used to treat my house with it every year, mainly as extra flea prevention as I have cats. I stopped using it 3 years ago when I got pregnant, and I've been plagued with spiders ever since... When I used Indorex I rarely ever saw a live one!

If you don't want insects or spiders in you home, leave cellar spiders alone (daddy longlegs). Facts are their fangs are not able to penetrate human skin, they cannot bite you. The hunt other spiders, and insects / fly's and keep your home pest free.

If you eradicate every single species from your home your making it an open invitation to new insects looking for a home. Cellar spiders making a home with you keep others in check and keep them out.

Learn to live be them leave them alone and they will avoid you and keep you safe.

I don’t want to leave them alone, not when they’re crawling on my bed and down the wall next to my face when i’m working. I’ve tried to be humane and use repellents instead, I see no other options but insecticide Shock

How often were you using the peppermint spray. I had to do it weekly around all window frames, doors and plug holes.

Applied twice or even three times weekly, but made my own spray with oil and water, it smelt strong! Despite regular usage i’ve seen/killed three since then

When we indorex'ed the entire house, I found a lot of curled up dead spiders for the next few weeks so I can only presume they'd been coming in and then dying!

MintyGreenDreams · 01/11/2022 16:07

Yes it works.in our house

which ones are cellar spiders?

I only know two types - thin spindly ones that live in corners, mostly up high. Never see them move. Just sit there. Then there's the crunchy, fast moving, creep across the room/bed/flat surfaces ones.

The thin spindly ones are cellar spiders. I quite like those and have several hanging around at the moment. Unfortunately still plenty of big fat crunchy buggers though!

FatEaredFuck · 02/11/2022 09:45

I use fly and wasp spray.

SingingSands · 02/11/2022 09:50

I recently used Indorex to treat a flea problem and then found loads of dead spiders a few days afterwards (including two of those big chunky fellas).

I felt quite guilty about the spiders.

foxlover47 · 02/11/2022 10:00

I tried the old wives tale putting conkers on the window sill
Last winter and I didn't see hardly any at all
Not sure if it is coincidence but maybe you could try that rather than killing them

Diverging · 02/11/2022 12:00

How are they getting in can you not seal all gaps and holes with silicone or something? Or is it through the open window?

Hus837 · 02/11/2022 13:36

Those who use Indorex, how frequently do you use it and do you use it throughout the year?

Are there any allergic reactions?

purplewashbag · 02/11/2022 15:58

Might be a bit late now to get any but ime conkers work. I got a whole bucket this years

Last year I forgot to collect any and had a whole colony of spiders on the go. This year none and lots and lots of conkers all over the windowsills!

Not tried indorex so can't help there but I really believe conkers work as I've done it a few years running except last year and always seems to work.

YellowTreeHouse · 02/11/2022 16:01

Can you use Indorex if pregnant and have a toddler?

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 02/11/2022 16:16

Indorex is half the price on ebay, never buy from your vet or from Amazon.

The cellar spiders that the poster was referring to, don't really do that. As a pp said, they are the spindly ones that just live up high on the ceilings and don't move around much. They kill and eat much bigger s

Somethingsnappy · 02/11/2022 16:48

Posted too soon! They kill and eat much bigger spiders. They are brilliant. We leave this type in our house, and as a result, hardly ever get any of the others.

Mojoj · 02/11/2022 16:50

Or here's an idea - grow a backbone and leave them be!! Assuming you live in the UK, they're completely harmless and great at eating any other bugs in your house.

Pitterpatterofrain · 02/11/2022 16:55

These are the ones you want 🥰. Free pest control and won't hurt you in the slightest. There your home's friend, a bit messy with webs if not cleaned up, but all the conkers stuff is scientifically proven to be bollocks.

As for using scented oils to deter spiders they only work if spiders get them on the fine hairs on their legs as that's how they smell and it irritates their legs.

Indorex for spiders?
Topseyt123 · 02/11/2022 17:01

I've not tried indorex. Might be a thing to try for spider season next year. I hate the really big fuckers.

DH takes them outside. I can't cope with them in the house. My method is to clobber them and suck them up the vacuum cleaner. I don't care if they are harmless. It doesn't feel harmless when they set my heart racing and skin crawling.

Whoneedsleep · 02/11/2022 17:03

We used indorex for fleas and found flies and other insects dead for months where I had sprayed so I would say it must work!

TheGuv1982 · 02/11/2022 17:09

I don’t have any windows or doors open when lights are on.

If they do come in, my army of cellar spiders is ready to go. We even “redeploy” them when they’ve set up somewhere pointless, like a ceiling.

TheSecondMrsMoorcroft · 02/11/2022 18:53

I leave the skinny spiders in situ. Also, use conkers.

I used to buy a spray from Bettaware which was brilliant.
