To think that Keir Starmer’s answers on child safeguarding and safe spaces were shit

So kids should be able to have irreversible medical treatment if their parents consent - there shouldn’t be evidence based medicine and basic safeguarding for all children.

and Bridget Philippson saying that schools need guidance on the issue but not saying what guidance she would provide

Keir Starmer, a former barrister, can’t even get the name of the Equality Act correct! And says there’s a way for self ID to work alongside single sex spaces but doesn’t say how.

fuck all the way off you disingenuous weasels.

Oh, and I didn’t hear Justine say how many questions were about these issues and communicate the strength of feeling, but perhaps I missed that?

It was about as rigorous as a chat with Lorraine.

Keyansier · 29/10/2022 17:37

Is this a recent interview?

Keyansier · 29/10/2022 17:38

Who are Justine and Lorraine?

HermioneWeasley · 29/10/2022 17:47

@Keyansier he was interviewed this week by Justine Roberts, founder of MN who put Mnetters questions to him. The interview was released this afternoon.

He would have known how many questions. Somebody would have checked and KS would have come up with, and rehearsed answers, for anything likely to come up.

It's crazy that you have to be 18 - even with parental consent - to make a life long decision and get a tattoo (which is reversible with laser tattoo removable) but you can be any age to start transitioning (which isn't reversible unless you've recently started). Children can not consent to it and nobody should be doing it on their behalf. Safeguarding absolutely is needed and I'm disappointed Labour doesn't think so.

I thought it was a bit weak to be honest. The setting seemed unprofessional as did the posture and appearance of the interviewer. I think kier sounded prickly, unfriendly and not as eloquent as you would expect a barrister to be. Just got a moany, whiny humourless vibe. Also the questions weren’t challenging and it wasn’t delivered in a way which expressed the sheer depth of fear and concern over safe space for women. Kier must have splinters from sitting on that fence. He said the safe spaces can be preserved alongside recognition of trans people. How? What would this potentially look like. He doesn’t have a clue what the plan is does he?

RudsyFarmer · 29/10/2022 19:14

People have to decide whether they want England to adopt similar policies to Scotland when it comes to gender identity and the natural fallout to safeguarding children and women’s spaces. Personally im of the ‘over my dead body’ contingent but it’s up to the electorate.

I haven’t watched but I heard it was pretty disappointing.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 29/10/2022 19:43

The man may be intelligent but he’s a ducking desperate, dangerous idiot. Also a coward willing to throw kids and women under the bus for power.
