Jiggling legs

Sitting waiting for a train and a man sat down next to me. He is jiggling his legs so much that the whole bench is shaking. WIBU to ask him to stop, if possible? (I did include 'if possible' in my request, as I understand that it might be difficult for him to stop.

Would your answer be the same if it were a teenage girl?

I’d assume he has anxiety or Parkinson’s, so no, I wouldn’t say anything.

Not in favour of engaging with randoms at train stations. I know it's annoying, I once sat next to a guy in the cinema who did this all the way through (fairly sure he wasn't wanking!)

Just move away.

Be friendly and ask him if he knows he is doing it - mauve if you get into a conversation you can mention it's annoying. My friend at uni I met and used to sit next to in lectures used to put one foot flat on the floor as any normal person might but the other used to be flexed up at the heel such that he touched the floor with his toes and that knee used to bounce around all the time sending vibrations down the long bench we all sat on. He suffered years of physical abuse from his alcoholic father - he did it when he was stressed or nervous which was almost all of the time. It took a long time before his mother was able to flee the situation - as a boy he remembers being woken and they left in the middle of the night and never saw his dad again although his mother was always worried he would find them. So... ask questions, try and understand people first - you might find out something interesting or something that puts things in perspective and changes your mind..

I would say it is anxiety and he would probably find it hard to bring under control on demand. Possibly distraction if you chat to him and he is talking about something else would help, but then you look a bit odd, well if you live in the south of England.

He might have restless leg syndrome
