How much tv does your child watch?

I always swore I wouldn’t allow Dd, 4 to have too much tv..and she barely watched any when younger. I’ve felt it creeping in the last 6 months or so and need to remember to be strict about watching less of it.
She goes to preschool part time, we go out lots for walks in nature with the dog, cafes, libraries, play dates, travel, read lots and practise letters, arts, crafts etc…but…I think she’s watching too much 😬
How much does your dc watch…help me feel less guilty

Her going only part time to preschool will be the issue, as there are only so many walks you can go on!

My eldest is nearly 5 and watches an hour a day split in two 30 min chunks.

If she has had outdoors time, done some reading and spent time doing other things like colouring, arts and crafts, baking and so ling as its before tea time but after 9am my daughter is unlimited . Some days more than others. Some days none. Tv is much more educational these days and you can chose what she watches. My daughter is 7

My 6 year old watches an hour a day in the morning. We have to be very strict with it because left to her own devices, she’d watch it ALL day.

I have it on for background noise and my son barely stops playing or whatever to actually watch it. Maybe the odd 10 mins here and there but I find because it's not really restricted he's not bothered about it being a treat or whatever. Its not always kids telly on but it will just be on!

Some people will disagree but it works for us. He's a nursery 4 days a week without it so the weekends I just don't mind

I don’t limit TV at all. My girls are 10 and I would say watch a couple of hours a days in the week. They don’t have any screens which is by choice as they’re not interested in them so I feel a couple of hours a day is fine. On the weekend and school holidays they watch a lot of tv but I am not remotely bothered by this.

My twins are nearly 6, one of them would sit and watch TV all day every day if she was allowed (we suspect she has ADHD so it's something she can hyper focus on).

During the school week I don't allow them any screen time, Friday after they come back from their activities they get to watch TV until bed time (about 90 mins).

Then they have TV Sat and Sun morning and a bit in the evening but we will go out and do stuff in the day-Walks or activities.

School hols they get TV in the week too but obviously thats around doing stuff too.

We don't limit the time but do check the quality - wholesome, educational and age appropriate and always on an actual TV (cbeebies or Disney+ only! No adverts) - 3yo and doesn't use handheld screens yet, hoping to keep her off them as long as possible.

She has learnt LOADS from the TV - she watches a fair amount and has a few fave programmes and as it's not limited she can take or leave it, never has a problem when we tell her to turn it off to do something else. She usually has it for down time as she doesnt stop for breath the rest of the time! Super into arts and crafts, playing with toys and generally running around outside like a loon so I feel there is enough balance! I honestly wouldnt worry about it if she is doing plenty of other activity too.
