To ask you to help me find things to do for 7 yr old in London tomorrow?

I’ve surprised my DD with a day out in London tomorrow but just haven’t had the time to book anything. I’ve booked a hop in hop off bus ticket for us but struggling to get an afternoon tea or London eye.

Does anyone have any brilliant suggestions for things to do tomorrow ? It’s half term so I guess there must be stuff happening but I’m not local.

fingers crossed, thanks 😊

Broadly, what sort of things does she like? Sports, history, royals, shopping, 'sights', music...

Londonlastminute · 27/10/2022 19:47

She does like history royals, art, shopping. Maybe not so much music or sport

Kidzania is really fun. It is at Westfield Shepherds Bush.

Lancrelady80 · 27/10/2022 19:48

Tower of London!

FarmerRefuted · 27/10/2022 19:49

Take her to see Six, it has royals and history. Try TodayTix for last minute tickets.

Tower of London?

Pinkysunset · 27/10/2022 19:50

the Tom gates author and illustrator is doing a talk and doodle workshop on south bank tomorrow! My 8 yo is so excited! You’ll need to book as is ticketed. L x

An Uber boat ?
British museum?
What's on at the V&A?
Tower of London?
Kew Gardens for afternoon tea?

1ittlegreen · 27/10/2022 19:58

Post office museum is good

Skelligsfeathers · 27/10/2022 20:01

100% tower of london!
Changing the guard at buckingham palace at 11am
A trip to the playground in hyde park

Definitely Tower of London, then perhaps get the clipper along the Thames to Westminster to see Buckingham Palace and then along the mall to trafalgar sq and the national gallery?

DillyDilly · 27/10/2022 20:04

Fortnum & Mason’s ice-cream parlour ?

RhubarbFairy · 27/10/2022 20:05

Covent Garden - Street performers/transport museum
Kidzania Shepherds Bush (4 hour slots so not really a day in London)
Tower of London
Diana Memorial Playground in Hyde Park (and a walk past Kensington Palace)
Hamleys
A show? We saw Frozen last night and it was excellent. Got tickets from the TodayTix app. You could walk up to the ticket booths in Leicester Square (only a 5 minute walk from Covent Garden) to see if they've got anything last minute at a cheap price.

Squiblet · 27/10/2022 20:06

There's a good list of half term activities on the Londonist website

Campervangirl · 27/10/2022 20:14

Tower of London is mint then a boat trip down the thames

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 27/10/2022 20:45

Took my 7 year old yesterday - her highlights were M&M world and the Lego shop, lunch in ChinaTown and Frozen the musical

The2Omicronnies · 27/10/2022 20:47

My 7 and 8 year olds absolutely love Camden Town

Twinklenoseblows · 27/10/2022 20:49

Ì think the London Eye is a bit dull personally. As others have said the Tower of London is great. Or catch a boat to Greenwich, see the Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory. Perhaps the Emirates Airline.

Or the Museum of London is brilliant.

pressurelikeadrip · 27/10/2022 20:50

Not sure if they still have tickets but the Horrible Histories river cruise is good

My 8yr old loved Tower of London and Covent Garden mooching.

V&A is free and you can just walk in. Science museum also free but you need to book a slot in advance really

I also took her to Monument / Pudding Lane as directly related to a topic she did at school

Heard good things about HMS Belfast and Greenwich - maybe get there by river taxi?

Barleysugar86 · 27/10/2022 20:54

The transport museum is great fun and really hands on and interactive - HMS Belfast is good fun to climb around in too.

Londonlastminute · 27/10/2022 20:55

Thanks everyone! I’ve now got too much to see and do 😊 Tower of London booked and will be trying to fit in a lot of the other suggestions
thanks again

Check out Frameless near Marble Arch. it’s an incredible, digital art experience. So hard to describe, but utterly breathtaking.
Lots of children there, and a great way to introduce art to them.
They take works of art and break them down, imagine all the brush strokes coming together across multiple screens. Really clever, and so beautiful.

mrsmarmalade12 · 27/10/2022 21:01

M&M world is hands down the most horrendous place I've ever visited. It's literally fresh hill. My kids love it!

I honestly think you can over plan London, shopping wise Lego shop is a kit but be prepared to queue. Hamleys is good and no queue the other day. Buckingham palace, at James park are good. See Big Ben on the bus, spot of lunch. If she's into Harry Potter do the platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross. You don't need to spend a lot in London. River cruise?

Butterlover1 · 27/10/2022 21:02

Hms Belfast.

Opposite tower of London

Clavinova · 27/10/2022 21:23

If you are going to the Tower of London perhaps have your afternoon tea/drink at the Ivy Tower Bridge.

Poppiesway1 · 27/10/2022 21:26

Covent Garden to watch the acts and then walk up to cucumber alley for ice creams / lots of different foods..
