To keep her off pre school for this

Dd has just started part time pre school, she’s due to finish for a weeks holiday tomorrow. She only basically has p.e/gymnastics, snack and playtime tomorrow. She’s been sneezing and coughing for a couple of days now and just lounging around. Should I skip pre school tomorrow?
First time at this and wondering what you all do? (Able to keep her off as I work part time and don’t work Fridays)
Do I seem over the top or do you try to keep them off if with a heavy cold/cough?

Of course. No one wants sick kids.

@MrsTerryPratchett She caught it from pre school, they’re all running around with different things 😬

Definitely keep off. Preschool is not compulsory and so if you can keep her home it's best to do so. Once she starts school properly you can't do that so easily as schools tend to want them in unless they have a fever, sickness bug or really aren't 'themselves'.

I don’t see why not. It’s only preschool, it’s not like she’s missing anything huge, and I’m sure they’ll be grateful that she can be at home getting special attention and care while she’s not quite herself.

If she is feeling under the weather then keep her off, unless you need her to be there so you can get to work?

Quietlazydays · 27/10/2022 15:24

She’s had one other morning off since September for tummy aches/stomach bug and the teacher looked a bit disapproving so I wasn’t sure if it seemed over the top to keep her off for a second time

If she is running around then send her in but if she behaving as if she is feeling unwell then keep her at home.

My dd started pre school in September and has missed an average of about a day a week because she has been continuously sick ever since she started with one thing or another. At first I tried to get her in as much as possible but if she’s had a crap night or is even a little bit off, she gets very cranky and bad tempered. It’s not school, attendance is not very important so now I just keep her home if she’s not in the right form. (I’m a sahm so it makes no difference to me). I find she’s just too young to cope with being in a strange environment when she’s off colour. I suppose it depends how well they tolerate it and how it affects their behaviour. If she has a slight cough, bit of a runny nose but has slept ok and is in good overall form, then yes. Heavy cough/ lots of sneezing/ fever/ too little sleep, no way.
