2-5 hours of free time a day, how would/do you spend yours?

Research shows less than 2 hours and more than 5 hours free time a day results in decreased happiness. So if you have/had 2-5 hours free time a day, how do/would you spend yours?

I run, swim, hike, sometimes ride my horse when she’s sound, go to the pub… essentially spend time out of the house. Most of these I do with other people which I think is huge for my sanity

swimming, walking the dog, going to choir, going to WI, quiz nights, bingo nights, seeing my friends and family, cinema, crafting.

I've gone from one end to the other and now spend all my time on mumsnet Confused

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/10/2022 12:17

That is essentially my evening, I read, knit, watch TV, go to the cinema with friends or to book club, catch up on work if necessary

I suppose I have this and yes, it does make me very happy.
I work full time, but have evenings to myself.
In the summer months I might go for a hike, bike ride or run with DH after work. Or walk the dog, if she hasn't been walked already. I also might do some gardening. Now that it's autumn/winter, my after work activities have switched more to crafting (I'm working on a project now which I'll give as a Christmas present) and watching tv/films.

I have this. I’m 8 months pregnant so it’s mostly spent tidying, studying for MSc (trying to get work in before baby is born), volunteering at the foodbank, swimming and yoga.

Depends how you class free. I walk the dog but often that’s for his benefit rather than really for mine. This week I’m off work with the kid and we’ve had lots of fun together but again probably stuff chosen more for her interest than mine. I love to cook but making tea is a ball-ache. So if there’s no one around I read, bake/cook for fun and walk the dog where I want to go… I also enjoy a cocktail and a meal out with DP.

All of my (non-work) time is free time, so when I finish work at 4pm I have until I go to bed at about midnight, plus weekends, to do what I want.

I run, read a lot, watch Netflix, play games, climb, go for walks, go paddle boarding, knit, go to a lot of gigs, am a very amateur film photographer and piss about on my phone haha.

I wouldn't (intentionally) take any kind of responsibilities on that meant I had less free time, to be honest - it keeps me sane. When I was working two jobs for a couple of years it absolutely ruined me having no time to myself. Hence being so protective of it now - I deliberately keep work to work hours these days and don't want children, so unless my mum requires care from me in future (which I'd be happy to give) that's unlikely to change. It makes me feel like my life isn't all work, and I feel very grateful that I can have that time.
