Is laser hair removal worth it for underarm ?

I recently had my first laser hair removal treatment and was disappointed.

Maybe it's my fault for not doing enough research before doing it. I thought I'd do a session because the hair will grow back much slower and in a month or two, and after a few sessions, it will stop growing completely. Just after the session, I discovered that I will still need to shave on a regular basis and that it will take 6-8 sessions for it to stop growing completely.

She used two lasers on me (one that stung like a mosquito on fire and another one that didn't hurt at all). I really liked that she was really professional and nice and answered every question I had, which I really liked because I felt really embarrassed for shuddering all the time.

So, should i just stick to regular shaving and ocasionally waxing or its better to make an investment now and not worry about it later?

Was it proper laser, or IPL?

I had proper laser for underarm and bikini line
it took about 8 sessions over the course of 18 months to stop all re growth, and was definitely worth it

I’m going back for my legs when I can…

My sister had it done but she wasn't impressed that after a few years the hair slowly started coming back. I think it's a bit misleading when they say 'permanent' hair removal but I guess different people have different experiences. Ive only waxed or epilated for years so my hair is very fine, very soft and grows sparse and slowly. It doesn't bother me much and it doesn't hurt to remove it anymore so that works fine for me but if I had very thick dark stubbly hair I think I would want to spend the money on laser removal.
