Says it all really! Sacking not my fault but not much I can do about it. Very worried.

So sorry you're worried. Everything seems worse somehow at night. Have you got a Union rep you could speak to?

I'm sure no company will want to get rid of someone who's not at fault. It'll probably cost them time, effort, money to replace you and they may not even be able to replace you at all quickly.

Can you speak to someone about this in the morning? If not your line manager someone else ? It may just be a misunderstanding either on your part ( worrying about some thing minor) - typical of a good employee - or something that just needs some clarification and then will be forgotten.

(I'm sure they won't want to risk being taken to a tribunal for something or nothing, that they can't prove.)

I find that if I can't get to sleep because I'm concerned about something it helps to write myself a note to remind myself what to do in the morning. Somehow it seems to help me to then get to sleep.

So sorry OP. Handhold from me xx

BCBird · 25/10/2022 04:28

Hand hold from me too. I would suggest writing it down too, then say to yourself,I'll deal with this in the morning.
As for proving you are not st fault just mske a note on paper list evidence to support your innocence. Also write union/ external.advice.
Good luck.

Do you have any friends you can talk to? I often find my closest friends are always there with a non judgemental listening ear. Like other have said, write down anything in the order you can remember the events happening, there's a service online called ACAS that can give advice, get any finances in order and cancel any subscriptions you don't need, above all, try to stay positive and look after your mental health by keeping physically active (exercise can really help)

Thanks for taking the time to reply - it's much appreciated! xx

Are you able to give a bit more context? When you're in the state that you're in it's very easy to see everything as an impending disaster. Someone might be able to advise and give you some perspective?

I’m an employment lawyer if you want any practical help?

Raknin76 · 13/03/2023 16:34

How are you getting on

sonicmum2002 · 13/03/2023 21:19

Thanks for checking in! Much appreciated. I resigned a few weeks' ago, and am voting up to end of notice period. Have sold my house and bought a smaller flat, so will be mortgage-free and have some equity left over. So don't need to get another job immediately but I have an interview on Friday!! A huge weight lifted as soon as I resigned.

That's really great that's you've managed to make some positive changes in an otherwise shitty situation. Well done! Now you can focus on getting your life back on track. Will your previous employer provide a basic reference? That way they only need to confirm the dates of your employment if you think they might not give a glowing reference

sonicmum2002 · 20/03/2023 17:34

We were a business partnership, and one of the other partners (who had also left) has given me a good reference. Thanks foe checking in, it's kind of you! Xx
