To regret starting a DIY project ( lighthearted)

So I had a very rare kids free weekend and thought I'd paint a room I've meaning to do for ages.

I've painted rooms before and thought I knew how to do it.

But the first coat has just taken me all morning, lotsnof fiddly bits to cut in. And the first coat looks absolutely awful. Really terrible.

I'm hoping that it's just because it's a dark colour. But might mean it needs four coats and now seriously regretting starting the whole thing.

Argh. Please remind me how to paint walls without it looking dire

My kitchen, was suposed to take 6 to 8 weeks, started in May, still not done. The end may actually be in sight at this point though

It’ll be fine, as you say you’ve done it before, all you need to do is stop procrastinating on MN and get on with it.

In my old house I went from a quick DIY task to put wood preserver on the back door step to paying a company to replace all the windows and doors in the house with PVC.

Reason behind it was discovering the door frame was rotten at the bottom, then checking various window frames and finding other rotten bits.

I'm waiting for first coat to dry before I tackle coat two and hope it looks significantly better!

First coat always looks bad especially with a dark colour. Don’t worry, each coat will look better than the last.
