For not wanting to leave my baby's side in hospital?

DD2 has been admitted as an inpatient following a high temperature.

My husband is working so can't visit during the day and other visitors don't usually come until mid-morning onwards.

Whilst it's just me and baby, I don't feel comfortable leaving her alone in the cot whilst I go to the toilet/brush teeth etc even if a nurse or HCA is watching her.

Yesterday I waited until 2pm for my brother to get here before I went to the loo.

I feel for you OP

When mine was admitted to hospital she wqs 2 weeks old. We were there for 10 days & the only time after 7 days when I asked a nurse to look after her for 2 mins so I could use the loo ... I got back to my baby screaming and no nurse. She had to go do something else. Haven't left her at all after that. It's tough I know but you'll get through it

Sending you both a big hug xx

Thank you all.

I just couldn't bring myself to leave her.

Luckily my MIL came, so I've been able to get dressed and eat something.

I'll be home soon hopefully!

I'm sorry to all that have had poor experiences with leaving their little ones.

How the hell is this helpful?? Presumably that's not what the OP was worried about Confused

How would you know what she’s worried about? Many people wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving their child unattended with strangers and the Lucy Letby news coverage is heightening that with nurses at the moment.

I had the opposite experience when DS was admitted. It was during Covid so only one parent allowed in and no other visitors. I asked a nurse to watch DS for a minute and she told me “I’m not a babysitter” and left. Another nurse watched him while I went to the toilet but it really stung - especially seeing as a) if I had hired a babysitter to watch DS for five minutes then they wouldn’t have let her in and b) I was paying nursery fees whilst he was in the hospital!
