Only boil a kettle to the amount to you need, don’t fill it up.

switch off phone/computer chargers and other plugged in (non essential) electrical items when not in use. These run even when not charging.

my friend who is a dentist once told me the best tip he could offer to protect your teeth is - when brushing your teeth don’t rinse the fluoride (saving you potential dental visits)

what are your personal day to day moneysaving and habits that someone else might not know?

Tesco/Asda/Morrisons (or any supermarket) body wash/gel has the same ingredients as bottles of handwash, and it washes your hands just as effectively as handwash. At 80-90p a litre, it's often much cheaper than Carex etc. Just fill your handwash bottle with it.

Soap is even cheaper and more enviromentally friendly but some prefer handwash in our household.

To ensure your freezer isn’t packed full. It’s not cool I learnt recently on this morning. I thought you could stick anything in there months but you are best not to.
Bread products frozen for example should be eaten within the month:

Made a minced beef and onion pie tonight. Replaced half the mince with finely chopped mushrooms. You honestly couldn't tell. Far cheaper and also healthier

Shop in farmfoods before going to your normal place.

stop buying things from shops (clothes shoes toys furniture etc) and buy secondhand. Cheaper and less in landfill

Yellow stickers at Waitrose, they have better deals than other supermarkets.

Unless you’re reliant on every spare penny to make ends meet, put any coin change you get into a pot and set up the digital “save the change / round up” equivalent for payments in your online banking which most banks offer. By Christmas you’ll have a decent bit out by that you’ll barely have noticed.

Walk and cycle where you can, if you can. Challenge yourself if you think you can’t. This might sound obvious, but I cycle to work and it saves me over £200 a month on a travel card. I suggested a colleague who lives in the same area as me give it a go one day: she was incredulous at the distance but agreed to try and discovered it really isn’t as hard or far as she thought and now saves herself travel money by doing it half the time.

Don't know if was saving money but in the Summer the washing machine spin was on the lowest setting . It didn't matter because the sun dried it. Now the winters back it will have to go full spin.
