just so he can buy me some krispy kreme donuts?

They look so nice and nowhere round here sells them.

Are they nice?
Anyone?

They are horrible. I went to Tesco once (not a pleasant afternoon) and thought that I had must try them (as you do!). You could literally taste the calories, they are very greasy and gods knows how long they are deep fried for. Don't bother they certainly aren't worth a 40 mile drive!

dyzzidi · 27/01/2008 19:19

I love them they have opened a shop next to the Trafford centre which does drive through. I always ask for the ones that are still warm. Also if the red light is on you get a free one when you walk past where they make them. Kids are always glued to the viewing platform.

TBH I would drive quite a way for them but they are only a special treat for me.

katylessbumpy · 27/01/2008 19:22

where next to the trafford centre?

lazarou · 27/01/2008 19:27

Oooh, I'm wanting one more and more!!!!

HERE Fill your boots

lazarou · 27/01/2008 20:11

Mmmmmmmm, a chocolate one from macdonalds, although I feel really sick now...

I was desperate to try these for ages and when I finally did I thought they were horrid - extremely overpriced and very fatty. I also thought the various flavours (for I spent a ridiculous amount on a box of the things) were wishy-washy and I'd have been hard pressed to guess what they were supposed to have been had I not known.

But I understand your yearning isn't going to be satisfied until you try for yourself !

hamsterlover · 27/01/2008 21:19

oh dear - have just checked the website and Krispy Kreme near the trafford centre open till 10pm tonight. I only live 5 mins away so am afraid i might b going out in a minute...

NoBiggy · 27/01/2008 21:30

Bought dp one, put it on a plate for him, he didn't touch it, next morning, having been left uncovered all night, it was still as soft and moist as ever.

It's not natural, I tell you!

krispy kremes are not all that, they do not taste any better just because the girls from sex and the city ate them (or a quarter of one every 2 years in order to stay thin in their dsigner frocks)

anyway, i digress, proper sugar donuts from greggs or similar bakers are nicer, and probably fresher.

does bluewater still have the kirspy kreme shop where you can watch them getting made?

NoBiggy · 27/01/2008 22:43

The Oracle in Reading has one of those. I admit, DD and I went in there before Christmas for a donut and a drink before going in the cinema.

We know how to live it up

hatwoman · 27/01/2008 22:48

I;ve only ever had one and I wasn't impressed. very artificial tasting and left a horrid chemical gloopiness in my mouth. If there's sugar and fat involved I am usually not fussy. but they just didn;t do it for me. at all. didn;t even smell right.

make yourself some of this instead

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/01/2008 22:56

I had my first krispy kreme last week. Why on earth are they called crispy? Very sickly, very sweet, and nothing 'quality' about them (I'd love to see the list of ingredients!) a part from the ridiculously high price. A big bar of Cadbury's fruit and nut would do me better any day.

colditz · 27/01/2008 22:57

Are you pregnant? If so, YANBU

CaptainCod · 27/01/2008 22:57

the dough is horrid too

colditz · 27/01/2008 23:00

If it hasn't just been cooked in front of me in filthy 6 month old oil, in a donut van, in November, by a sullen teenager called Kay-Lee, it's not a real donut.

handlemecarefully · 27/01/2008 23:05

I make dh go to local garage to get me a beer or a can of coke, but that's only 800 yards away .

lazarou · 28/01/2008 09:41

Colditz, there is always a doughnut van in town that sells really nice ones. They make them for you there and then and so they're always really hot. 5 for a £1 is a bargain.

Lazarou pmsl.

I had a huge KK obsession while pregnant with ds, i drove (and i kid you not) a four hour round trip to the nearest KK outlet, a tesc in Weybridge Surrey. I made the trip a few times...

I would drop the kids off at school and go!

Do it, they are lovely.

They have kindly built one now right next to my local tesco I got invited to the opening of it (invitation only ) and took all the children. We had free donuts all eveing and then got a box of 12 to take away

lazarou · 29/01/2008 07:51

I had a dream that I tried the donuts last night. A choclate one and a jam one. They were lovely.
