Is it easier to upsize in a slow market?

People have told me this in the past but would love real life stories.

I don't need to move but am thinking that this next year may be an opportunity. I may have to prepare to sell for a loss. Upsizing from 2 bed flat to 3 bed flat in London.

Vote YABU for it is harder
Vote YANBU for it is easer.

Thank you/

It's harder to get a mortgage in a property crash. So depends if you have much equity left when selling at a loss.

I think there are so many factors at play. For example — the number of three-bedroom flats in London compared to the number of two-beds. At one level, you're always going to be at a disadvantage because what you're looking for will be rarer than what you're looking to move from.

Yes if you have a good deposit and equity generally. Larger properties fall more so the one you want to buy might drop by 100k but your smaller property has dropped by 30k.
