To think covid body aches are the worst

I have covid and feel horrendous. Fatigue, chills, coughing no energy. I am on day 1 and have to say this is bad. I am having excruciating period type stomach and a legs pains.

Anyone else?

How long do they last? I have 3 little kids to look after and am just an emotional mess right now. Don't know point of this post just need to vent and some solidarity really

@Littleoldbear for me, the pains came out of nowhere when I was visiting my elderly mother and at first I thought they were as a result of walking too much the previous day. Within a couple of hours, I was freezing cold and by 6pm, I had to go to bed. The pains and the fever had literally disappeared by 8am the next day. For me, it was nowhere near as bad as flu.

Can't be that bad if you have started this thread and are answering peoples replies.

When I had flu 12 years ago, if the house were burning down I simply wouldn't have, nay, couldn't have got out of bed.

Fannying around online just didn't even register.

You know it IS possible to have a really nasty bout of the flu and still lie in bed on your phone. Not everyone who has the flu is as wet as a lettuce although I have heard people go on about how they almost died and wouldn't pick up a million pounds left on their doorstep and they were so ill they couldn't blink bla bla bla.. I call them 'drama queens'.

OP, the leg cramps and pains only lasted a day or so, I was really bad and bed bound again for the first day and then another few days with just the normal cold symptoms, I do fight things off very quickly though.

I had to keep rotating like a kebab all night it was horrible. But it didn't last too long. Hope you feel better soon.

InterestQ · 18/10/2022 17:19

The body aches were the worst part of covid for me and lasted most of a day. A hot deep bath alleviated them temporarily before bed. Worth a try.

Karmatime · 18/10/2022 17:21

I only had the weird pains for the first 24 hours. Awful heartburn, sensitive skin, jaw and toothache were the worst. After that I got a nasty sore throat and all over fatigue for another 4 days with the odd bout of coughing. After 5 days I started to feel better each day though it took over 2 weeks until I got my energy back. OH started with a crashing headache but missed the other symptoms. He was back to strength earlier than me.

Body aches for me lasted 10 days, 10 days of hell. Never felt pain like it in my legs, back and neck. But reading replies it seems I'm in a minority.

Schulte · 18/10/2022 17:26

I had leg and back pain to the point where I was crawling rather than walking up the stairs. Paracetamol helped me but I’m sure you’ve already tried that. Hope you feel better soon!

KangarooKenny · 18/10/2022 17:26

I found flu far worse

DemelzaandRoss · 18/10/2022 18:26

Yes, the body aches are horrible. Take Paracetamol every 4 hours until the maximum dose is taken. You should feel loads better tomorrow or the day after.
The cough goes on & on though, extremely tickly. Hope you soon improve soon.

ScreamingInfidelities · 18/10/2022 18:53

I had covid late 2020 so before the vaccines. My symptoms were horrendous but the body aches were the worst. Every joint in my body was agony, including all my fingers, toes and my jaw. It hurt to move and it hurt to lie still! I remember just lying there crying one day because I was so fucking miserable

VillanellesCoat · 19/10/2022 01:29

The pain lasted a week for me. I’m in week 2 now & have no energy, muscles ache & the shortness of breath is debilitating. I’m consoling myself with thinking how much worse it could’ve been if I hadn’t been vaccinated 😬

sjpkgp1 · 19/10/2022 02:15

I've had it recently - first time and clinical vulnerable, but fully jabbed. Proper body aches (almost shooting pains) and fluey Day 1 to Day 2 - something you would defo take ibuprofen or paracetamol for, then a really wet cold Day 3 and 4 (took the beforementioned but it had no effect), then just tiredness / general cold for days 5-7, then tiredness 7-14 days when I was negative. No cough for me ever, but my lungs and back hurt on occasion and I found myself short of breath if I did anything too exerting. The most surprising symptom for me was that I kept having to go for a wee. I normally only go a couple of times a day, and never ever once I have gone to bed. I was back and forwards to the bathroom like a two bob watch during the night. As long as there are no "alarming things" there's not much you can do unfortunately, but keep warm, hydrated and take painkillers, have plenty of sleep, and hope in a couple of days it passes enough to make life bearable again. 🌺

Obki · 19/10/2022 02:42

I had the same as you, OP, bad leg ache and gum ache. This was back in April 2020 but remember it like yesterday.

Do you have a heat pad? I find it helpful wrap them around a bit of leg to give some relief.

Littleoldbear · 19/10/2022 08:29

Thanks everyone. Used a hot water bottle and took a paracetamol last night and I weirdly started to feel better. Aches went and I was optimistic. Slept all night but woke up to the shivers and body aches again.
Hate taking paracetamol when I'm breastfeeding but I think it's too torturous not to.
I feel so exhausted despite the sleep and same @sjpkgp1 cough is mild to non existent but still feel really breathless

I am double vaxxed I admit I didn't get the booster but the stories circulating that's its a minor cold if that was anyones experience I truly envy them

Like any “flu”. you can feel terrible for about a week and then start to feel better

EatingCoats · 19/10/2022 08:33

Yes! I had terrible leg pain, it was the worst symptom for me. I couldn’t sleep for 2 days because the pain kept me awake. I kept doing 5 minutes walking round the garden every hour or so which seemed to help a little bit.
