How effective?
How long did it last?

I dont but I'm maybe going to get diagnosed after sleep study in Dec. Did you get it fitted? How is it?

Alconleigh · 11/11/2022 10:11

I use one. Cost me about £350. 3 years ago. I need to replace it and think it will be more like £550 now unfortunately. I was told after a sleep study that I don't have sleep apnoea, but I am a heavy snorer and used to wake feeling exhausted and unrefreshed. That doesn't happen with the MAD, and I really notice the different if I fall asleep without it.

I don't think it completely stops me snoring but it does make it a lot better.

I'm booked in next week £310 😢😢

It only lasted 3 years???

The dentist said if you grate yourself teeth (which I do) they need replacing quicker 😟

Sorry I noticed on the first post I was supposed to have it last month. They wanted the money up front so I had to rearrange.

It's partly almost chewing through part of it and partly manky plaque etc build up which seems to happen even though I clean and disinfect it every day

ahunf · 11/11/2022 12:53

Oh no I'm worried now. Can hardly even afford a check up never mind any extras.

I paid £600 for mine but haven't used it yet as it looks so uncomfortable! I normally use a CPAP device.

I had to pay for mine as I needed it quickly but if you aren't in a hurry the Sleep Clinic should be able to refer you to an NHS dental hospital to have it made.

ahunf · 11/11/2022 13:23

I booked in for it next week. They have taken the casts already (??) I can't have a CPAP as I'm just under the threshold.

Dh had one. It worked well for him for quite a few years until his sleep apnea got worse. Now he has cpap.

Slightly. The bottom tray keeps falling out.

I've been told to not alter the settings yet. I have to use a screwdriver to move my jaw further out.

Oh god. I didn't think about it getting worse.

Hi. The bottom retainer falls out a lot. The top one has cut my gum. I've had it in 2 weeks now. Only now can I start to adjust the device with the screwdriver. I'm still making the gasping sounds.

OP posts:

Also the hook comes undone. I'm not due back at the dentist until feb but ideally I'd like to speak to someone. I think I'll need a couple of months to get used to it.

Yep gasping sounds. I have an app.

Sorry couldn't be bothered to change my username.

ahunf · 06/07/2023 22:00

Hi. This device is still not helping. I fall asleep 2/3 times during the day. I'm sooo tired. Had enough.
