AIBU to want to purchase a bed that gets assembled

Thats all I'm asking really. I am trying to purchase a reasonably priced bed but I have to have it assembled as well and can't find someone who delivers AND assembles. Can anyone suggest anyone?

Oh maybe not for that price

DenholmElliot1 · 16/10/2022 17:10

Forgot to say, has to be a small double size too :)

We got our bed base off Amazon, amazingly strong and takes minutes to set up. Arrives as 2 folded single beds and you unfold and clip them together. Very easy. You could always try task rabbit for getting someone to assemble it www.taskrabbit.co.uk/services/handyman/assemble-furniture

I paid for John Lewis to bring and assemble, and then they claimed they couldn't find anywhere to park their (absolutely massive) lorry, so said they'd just deliver and refund the assembly fee. I wasn't best pleased and it took me about 2 hours!

Whostoblame · 16/10/2022 17:12

We got our bed and mattress from IKEA and got it assembled for about £40 - that was a king size though

TooMinty · 16/10/2022 17:12

I think John Lewis and Selfridges both do delivery and assembly? Not necessarily too pricey if you get it in a sale and take the view that a bed has a 20+ year life span!

TooMinty · 16/10/2022 17:14

Oh sorry, just saw that it's for a guest room - maybe you can pay a local handy person to do it?

TiaraBoo · 16/10/2022 17:14

You could get task rabbit to assemble it and buy the cheapest bed you can find.

FistFullOfRegrets · 16/10/2022 17:18

@DenholmElliot1

a friend has just ordered a double bed (with 4 drawers) from

beds.co.uk

£420 including delivery & 'installation'. Only some of their beds seem to include the service though (maybe the divans with storage) it's very clear under each bed though.

Habitat.

I bought a pair of beds and their delivery guys were ready and eager to assemble them. DH refused and sent them away so he could do it himself The Virgo Way.

Yabado · 16/10/2022 17:37

MA global bed on facebook
they deliver and assemble
generally deliver within 3 - 5 days
a small double with mattress and headboard would be around £400

I got my son two kingsize beds from them a few weeks ago and they are really nice

Keroppi · 16/10/2022 17:50

Get Laid beds are very very good and offer this

Alternatively could ask a friend, often someone will have a partner or be the type of person that enjoys putting together flatpacks - it's a bit like adult lego!

Really do recommend TaskRabbit. Think Ikea use them but organise one yourself separately because if you get someone good, they're worth their weight in gold for any future assembling or jobs around the house.

thinkfast · 16/10/2022 19:08

Warren Evans assemble OP.

If you're in North London then Vic Smith Beds.

It doesn't have a headboard, but I'm planning on buying this for our spare bedroom. My brother has it in his bedroom and it actually looks really nice. This is the only one that I've found that fits into my alcove because there's no extra ledges on the side of the bed. My brother said it's really simple to build, took him about an hour, and I'm sure you'd be able to get a local handyman to put it together for you.

And I only contacted them Tuesday and it's here now!

Are you talking about a sleigh bed? I bought one in February, it was very easy to assemble .

bakebeans · 22/10/2022 10:12
