I bought three items for my son from Vinted as a bundle from one seller.

One item was really nice.

One item had a hole in.

One item had stains.

In order to get a refund, you have to send every item back at your expense. I wanted to keep the one good item so I said to the seller I would try to get the stains out of the one item (and throw the item with a hole in in the bin). She said she was happy to give a partial refund if I knew how. As far as I know (I've literally used Vinted twice), this isn't possible so I didn't reply and just left it as the items cost me about £7.

I then left a three star review, which I felt was fair. The seller left me two stars in response saying I asked for a partial refund (I didn't) and that I didn't respond to her messages.

I'm not exactly sure what I've done wrong here? I wasn't rude. I said I was happy to see if I could rectify it myself. Surely the point in feedback is to be factual but if people are going to get offended and leave false reviews in retaliation then it will put people off giving anything but glowing reviews?

I'm not sure why it's annoyed me so much 🤣

So, should I have just given 5 stars regardless?

I don’t think you should of given a 5 star review
I am not sure how vinted works, is it a bit like Depop? I take it people should say if an item has a hole in it
I think a 3 star was fair to give her, and assume she got upset and it got her back up so she decided to give you a 2 star review out of spite
I guess you could of replied and taken the partial refund or just to tell her not to bother as it was only £7

It was out of spite. Thank you. I couldn't think of what I was trying to say.

I'm not 100% sure how to use Vinted as I've only bought things twice, but you can't get a partial refund as far as I know. I'd have to pay postage to send all three items back (even the one I was happy with) which just wasn't worth it.

I've blocked her so I don't mistakenly buy from her again so she's updated her feedback to say I continue to harass her and that I've blocked her, and I clearly wanted a full refund.

I didn't ask for any refund! I said I'd just keep it all and try to get the stain out of the one!


It's really pissed me off. I know, I know, it's not important but it's annoyed me as now I look like a bad buyer when actually, I was more than fair.

I had a bad experience on Vinted where they said they thought there was a hole in the item and would check tomorrow. The item was new.

The day after she wanted me to send her money to send me the item back, plus a full refund. Vinted were on my side as she couldn't show me a picture of the "holes".

She left a dreadful review saying I lied about the item and refused a refund, but over time this has dropped off and it hasn't really affected anyone buying from me.

The seller should have checked their items properly and if they happened to miss the stain and hole then they should have found out how to give you a partial refund. I would complain to Vinted about their feedback.

Oh god. Now this sounds like she was trying to pull a fast one. I'm glad Vinted sided with you.


I know no one cares but here's the item with the hole. I wasn't trying to scam her, or get anything for free. I was willing to just take the hit on the cost of the crap items rather than pay the postage to return as I would have been out of pocket regardless.

I need to move on. I just wanted a moan.

YANBU. In contrast I bought an item on Vinted recently which arrived really stained and marked. I contacted the seller but said I wasn't sure what the best way to resolve was as I didn't want to be out of pocket sending it back. She apologised for not checking the item properly and refunded me 100% and told me to keep the item. So that's how your seller could have resolved it as it was her balls up. She deserved the 3* review

She's being unreasonable, considering she sold you unwearable clothes!

That was nice of her. I wasn't expecting anything like that. I raised it with the seller then realised I'd have to pay return postage and decided I couldn't be bothered.

I've messaged the help centre but it says they don't generally remove reviews.

It's literally my only review! 🤣

I’d class it as scammed, you received 2 faulty items, you can’t receive part refunds, she would have known that, she shouldn’t have left you negative feedback, a decent seller would have either paid your return postage or just refunded you in full.

There seems to be a lack of decent sellers on Vinted as like you I have received many items that are full of holes, stained, filthy or caked in mould.

So many items not as described, it’s hard to see on the Vinted images as once uploaded onto their site the quality deteriorates but sellers try their hardest to conceal faults, I normally ask for confirmation that there aren’t any stains etc.

It's put me off a bit.

My friend bought a few things and the seller sent her extras for free. Why can't I ever get that sort of thing?!

I'm not going to name her and I do believe it was an oversight because she's got 400 off reviews and they're almost all 4 stars. I just think she can't take any criticism. Or she responds to low ratings to the point the poster just deletes them rather than deal with her rants.
