Caught covid 3 weeks apart, its hellish

My child and I were "exposed" via a relative who had covid middle to end of September, relative was violently ill with covid for 3 weeks and is still recovering.

Child and I both felt awful for a week after we saw them, we tested negative apart from one day where we had a super light line, then we were negative for 2 weeks.

Last week child tested positive for covid, this time awful cough and temp ill for a week (still positive). I am now positive, its my 4th time and I've had 4 jabs.

My chesty cough is absolutely horrendous, I feel like I'm choking its relentless I'm getting about 4 hours if that of broken sleep a night. I had covid in March 2020 and its as bad as it was then, I have a lung condition and low lung capacity as well as asthma.

I'm doing everything I can, windows open, taking paracetamol, asthma pump, forcing myself to eat and drink, but wow I'm starting to worry my lungs feel wrecked.

Is there anything else anyone has done to help the cough please?

Might it help if you put some hot water in a bowl and stick your head over it covered with a towel?

Vics steamer. We were ill six weeks ago for three weeks. I'm still reliant on a constant stream of steam to keep the cough at bay. 24/7. Have to add that.the steamer works fine without the vics Insertable Inserts.

I took an antihistamine at night when I had a really hacking cough a couple of weeks ago. Don’t know whether it helped or not, but figured it wouldn’t do any harm. I also find bronchostop pastilles quite good
