Asda V Aldi? Which one do you prefer? On a tight budget 🙈

Aldi for me

Bookaholic73 · 14/10/2022 18:29

I prefer Asda. I’ve never been that keen on Aldi though.

JaceLancs · 14/10/2022 18:29

I hate Asda with a passion
I combine aldi with sainsburys one week and aldi with Tesco the alternate week

Theredtoyphone · 14/10/2022 18:30

Asda. New rewards scheme is pretty good and they are doing 10% off for Blue Light Card holders.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 14/10/2022 18:31

Aldi. I know you can't get everything and it has its faults but our asda has a horrible layout, it's more expensive plus half the stuff has no price on it so it's a real pain.

sandytooth · 14/10/2022 18:32

Asda is torture

PumpkinGhoul · 14/10/2022 18:33

Our local Asda the staff are rude whilst I like some stuff in Asda I'm not a massive fan prefer Aldi but then also like Tesco.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 14/10/2022 18:38

Here's a whacky ideas go to both and see which you prefer, why does it matter which one I or other stangers like better?

WonderingWanda · 14/10/2022 18:45

I prefer Asda, we have to buy a lot of gluten free and Aldi is rubbish for that. Asda had some great deals, carries more brands and their own brand food is tastier in my opinion. Whenever I do an Aldi shop I have to top it up with bits from somewhere else. Always do a whole shop in Asda.

TimBoothseyes · 14/10/2022 18:48

Asda. I live 15 miles from the nearest Aldi and they don't deliver so not worth the bother.

HollyJollypup · 14/10/2022 18:51

I hate Asda. They are always a mess and full of chavs.

Aldi every single time.

RoseDog · 14/10/2022 18:52

Asda but home delivery, the shops are horrendous, we have 3 in our city and they are all in less pleasant areas.

IndiGlowie · 14/10/2022 18:53

Our Asda is in a rough part of town so always shoplifters , fights and arguments in the aisles . They have started to stagger the reductions now to stop friction . Police are always there .

ScroogeMcDuckling · 31/10/2022 23:16

Asda is ok, there is a big (huge) one about five miles from us, there is an Aldi, a farm foods, a B&M on the same retail park. Down the road there is a huge Sainsburys, Tesco, and a nice Lidl.

we like farm foods, but only go two or three times a year, for washing powder, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid, coffee, tea bags (good in B&M too) sugar, proper cod fishfingers, pukka pies too. If you spend £100, remember your £10 off voucher!

Asda, like Lidl good for the fresh fruit and veg, meat, dairy and bakery is good. Watch the prices elsewhere in Asda though.

Lidl has a fantastic bakery but it’s not cheap, the offers are sometimes very good, but to me it’s more like a big local corner shop.

Iceland I actually really like. Again it’s like a big corner shop, but the prices are very good, even better in the Food Warehouse.

Aldi is not bad, I love Sainsburys and I don’t find the prices expensive, especially as Sainsburys claim to be the same as Aldi.

I think the truck with food shopping, remember prices and the weights, if you have a bad memory write it down or take pictures.

the market is very good for fruit and veg, as is going to the local fishmongers, and cooking from scratch is the best way to save money.

I was in a Lidl and a bloke thought a tin of curry for £1.49 was a bargain. You can make a bucket load of curry for that price.

PunchedTit4ASoul · 01/11/2022 03:46

Aldi over Asda but Lidl over all supermarkets as the bakery is amazing and cheap (although last two times they were out of cheese twists).

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 01/11/2022 03:55

Asda is cheaper, especially if you get essentials range. Also the price lock products. Aldi is probably cheaper for fancy shit.

Obki · 01/11/2022 04:54

Asda is much better than Aldi.

autienotnaughty · 01/11/2022 05:07

If I go to Aldi il spend £70
If I go Asda il spend £150

Partly due to Asda being bigger and having more choice. But definitely more expensive.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 01/11/2022 05:07

I prefer Asda as it has more choice sands they deliver. I'd prefer Lidl though

CakeCrumbs44 · 01/11/2022 07:04

We get Asda home delivery every other week and Aldi in between. Aldi is cheaper but doesn't have as much choice.

ChimChimeny · 01/11/2022 07:07

Bit of both!

Asda is cheaper for fruit but Aldi is cheaper for eggs & cheese. Those are the ones I've compared!

Can you do a bit of both?

Shouldawouldacoulda30 · 01/11/2022 07:08

Aldi …better quality .
Asda is a very last resort for me and only if I want to grab milk or any other essential item . I genuinely glaze over when I walk in there!

edenhills · 01/11/2022 07:22

Asda home delivery. I honestly don't get why people like Aldi, they are hardly cheaper if you buy own brand stuff anyway and have hardly any of the things I want.

OoooohMatron · 01/11/2022 07:45

Aldi 100%. Although I do get kids school uniform from Asda which is very good.
