Asda is ok, there is a big (huge) one about five miles from us, there is an Aldi, a farm foods, a B&M on the same retail park. Down the road there is a huge Sainsburys, Tesco, and a nice Lidl.
we like farm foods, but only go two or three times a year, for washing powder, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid, coffee, tea bags (good in B&M too) sugar, proper cod fishfingers, pukka pies too. If you spend £100, remember your £10 off voucher!
Asda, like Lidl good for the fresh fruit and veg, meat, dairy and bakery is good. Watch the prices elsewhere in Asda though.
Lidl has a fantastic bakery but it’s not cheap, the offers are sometimes very good, but to me it’s more like a big local corner shop.
Iceland I actually really like. Again it’s like a big corner shop, but the prices are very good, even better in the Food Warehouse.
Aldi is not bad, I love Sainsburys and I don’t find the prices expensive, especially as Sainsburys claim to be the same as Aldi.
I think the truck with food shopping, remember prices and the weights, if you have a bad memory write it down or take pictures.
the market is very good for fruit and veg, as is going to the local fishmongers, and cooking from scratch is the best way to save money.
I was in a Lidl and a bloke thought a tin of curry for £1.49 was a bargain. You can make a bucket load of curry for that price.
