Neighbour and bins

AIBU to be f**ked off by this.
me and dp leave for work between 7 and 7.30am. Bins get collected 9ish. We don’t get back till 5.30-6.00pm, which is when we would bring them in.

My neighbour goes out and moves only hers and my bin within 15 minutes of them emptying it (I have a ring doorbell)

She doesn’t move it to where my bins are usually stored, which is next to hers in the communal car park. She dumps it either in the middle of the car park entrance, touching my front door (when the bin had maggots on in summer) or into the middle of the road.

I’ve had enough of it. I know it’s only a bin but it’s pathetic. Thinking of putting a sticker on it or something

As an aside why did your bin have maggots in summer? We are on fortnightly collections, don't get our bin cleaned, and have never had maggots as if there was slop in the bin we would rinse it out.......if you struggle with this a bit I heard that if you cover the base of the in with cheap table salt it can help prevent the maggots.

However why not speak to her, tell her she is on your ring doorbell camera and you're wondering why she does this....of she knows she's being clocked she may stop.

@44PumpLane I’m assuming from nappies, I don’t know where maggots come from, I’ve looked into bin cleans but they’re not in my area

Well just ask her to stop moving your bin and maybe the nappies need to be stored differently and not put out in the waste bin in the heat, do you double bag them or have somewhere cooler or a bin shed.

Are you sure the bin is yours? In many areas the bin remains the property of the local authority/council.

Plus if the bin is maggotty then you need to wash it out after it's emptied. Most normal people do.

The bin isn't your property. It belongs to the council. They let you have it, but you don't own it.

You can clean your bin yourself, you don't need someone else to do it.

Really, there are more critical things in life, so stop being ridiculous. Or tell your employer you'll be late in as you need to sort out your own bin. I'm sure they'll understand.

We have our outside bin cleaned regularly but still had maggots this summer. We've also had maggots in our inside bin lid hinge area (and therefor in the bin and down the back crawling about 🤮) even though we change and clean that every 2-3 days. Although you can mitigate it by regularly cleaning etc you can't always prevent flies laying eggs where they want to.

its My bin because it’s my responsibility. You can’t say oh it doesn’t belong to you, then in the next sentence say it’s my responsibility to keep it clean. She chooses to put her bins next to mine against my fence, she could keep them in her garden but can’t be arsed to walk 5 steps further. There’s a hole in the bin lid which has been there since I moved in in May which is how maggots and flies get in. They were there for a few days and it was one occasion she did it.

Pulling someone else's bin out into the middle of the road is weird and dangerous IMO. I don't know what your road is like OP but if there was a bin out in the middle of my road it would send one of the local boy racers careening up onto the pavement at about 70mph. I don't think YABU 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just go over and politely ask her to stop doing it. Say you'll bring the bin in when you get back from work and it's not needed for her to move it.

This would really wind me up too 🤣 it's unnecessary interfering imho, especially when she's placing it in a dangerous place?? I'd just go and speak to her and ask her to leave it where it is and you'll bring it in as soon as you get home.

Really you do just need to speak to her 'hi neighbour, saw on my video that you had to move my bin. Please don't bother yourself, I'll shift it when I get home'.

Should be enough if she's doing it to be a pita.
