A parking one

I left for the school run this morning, at 07:30, got back at 08:10, and someone was parked in my private parking space (private as in purchased with the house and I have sole use of)

I left a polite note on the car this morning, asking them to please not park in my private space in future, but to please use one of the visitor bays, that I'm disabled and have a small baby to get out of the car.

As today's gone on, I've found myself quite annoyed. I have nowhere to park, parking is a problem in our estate, I risk getting a parking ticket if I park somewhere I don't have a permit to park in.

The car is still parked outside.

I feel like a right grumpy fucker, but I am disabled (have a blue badge) and its pretty inconvenient that I still don't know where I'll be parking my car tonight and I have no idea how much walking I'm going to need to do to actually leave the house tomorrow.
Looking unlikely the cheeky fuckers going to be moving their car tonight I should think.

I've spent as much time out of the house today as possible in the hope that they'd move, and I wouldn't have to park somewhere that will get me into trouble...but I'm really needing to be home, and I can't really block them in over night can I?

Block them in.

DH and I had a similar situation when we lived in a flat with a designated parking space, so we blocked the car in. We later found a note on our car saying they had to park in our space because someone parked in theirs, and it’d be our fault if they can’t get to the hospital if they’re having a heart attack and can’t drive there .. WTF!?

Firstly, why does someone causing them inconvenience by parking in their space mean that they can visit that inconvenience on someone else, and then why the fuck would they drive to the hospital whilst having a heart attack!? A clear attempt to try and make us feel guilty for blocking them in. DH left a note saying they should meet him there at a set time to be let out of the space .. they were very quiet without the pen and paper to hand!

Now we live in a terraced street which is rammed towards the end of the day, and people park their cars in the middle of spaces which could easily have parked two. Maybe it doesn’t cross some peoples’ minds to be considerate, others probably don’t give a shit. Frustrating.

Hope you get it sorted soon OP!

MN rule is diagram or it didn't happen

Meltingsocks · 13/10/2022 21:58

Block them in and don't answer the door

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 13/10/2022 22:00

Block them in and open the wine.

Boomboom22 · 13/10/2022 22:00

Def block them in and leave your badge very obviously visible. Cf.

DoodlePug · 13/10/2022 22:06

I like the idea of setting their alarm off if possible.

If you can park in your space then do so even if it means blocking them in.

I'm glad you left a polite note. I went to visit a friend where he lived on one of the many blocks which surrounded a large car park and he told me to park anywhere. Next day there's a seriously nasty note on my window, a scratch on my car and 2 let down tyres. Absolutely no notices anywhere so not my fault, obviously my friends fault but he didn't drive and knew he was entitled to a space but hadn't realised they were allocated (idiot!).

RiftGibbon · 13/10/2022 22:25

Agree with the majority. Block them in. Badge out on display.

elephantseal · 13/10/2022 22:39

Yes, block them in overnight. Leave a very terse note.

Polite? They weren't polite to you!

Block them in

Blizzardbeach · 13/10/2022 23:09

I parked and blocked them in, with my permit qnd badge visible, but DH was concerned that if they knocked in the night theyd set the dog off, in turn waking the neighbours up.
DH managed to block the neighbours cars in (checked before just leaving it there)

Then they came back and the car disappeared about 15 minutes ago I'd say.

I hope they don't come back tomorrow.

In our estate, we can't get cars towed by the enforcement company, but we can report people so they get tickets, which I'm sorely tempted to do! I have photos of the car in the bay.

I wish there were disabled spaces but its literally visitors and residents.

I couldn't bring myself to write arsey notes or damage a car like a poster above dealt with, ouch! In my mind I would, but in reality I'd be thinking about their disadvantage...never mind mine lol.

Thank you all. I'd do a drawing of the situation but it literally was there was nowhere to park despite having somewhere that is my bay.

If it's your own bay get your number painted on. Or a penguin bollard. I'd be inclined to put a sign up too

Blizzardbeach · 13/10/2022 23:16

Oh our numbers are already painted on, in big numbers.
The visitor bays have V in them too...which were unoccupied during the day...but by mid afternoon they're gone.

Needed 🤣

StoneofDestiny · 13/10/2022 23:22

I'd have blocked them in and told them I had drunk too much to shift my car.
you need penguin bollards.

eldora · 13/10/2022 23:27

I couldn't bring myself to write arsey notes

What’s the point in posting a thread then.

Orders76 · 13/10/2022 23:44

Have you something to leave in the bay tmr, they may be back!

OldEvilOwl · 14/10/2022 16:23

Did you not even leave a note on it? doesn't have to be rude. They will be back as they 'got away with it once'

Seashor · 14/10/2022 17:39

Elodea , I’m with you!

OneTC · 14/10/2022 17:44

Give it a wobble and see if the alarm goes off

JudgeJ · 15/10/2022 22:05

I would take a photo of the car, including the registration number, and post it on facebook, if I used it, asking Does anyone know whose car this is??
