Most cluttered houses aren't very clean.

All that stuff in corners, on surfaces, under beds.
There's not enough hours in the day to clean the stuff you can get to, let alone anything in the deepest darkest recesses.
Right?

So OP can cheerfully judge other people, but posters here should not judge OP? Have I got that right??
Honestly, life is too short to worry about how other people clean their homes.

It's not about judging. It's about being rude and insensitive. People have complained many times on threads about the 'is that all you have to worry about' comment.

Take it on board or don't. But don't fool yourself that people don't find it rude and annoying.

So what's your point? Having a tidy/clean house doesn't make you morally superior to someone who doesn't.

My house is cluttered. No way is everything clean. It is impossible.

My house is not particularly cluttered but it is not devoid of "stuff" either.

It is clean enough for me. I don't spend my life cleaning, thinking about cleaning, wondering about germs and dirt and bacteria.

ReneBumsWombats · 12/10/2022 12:20

Yes, I agree.

Not all. But most. Stands to reason. It's harder and more of an effort to get to the surfaces to clean them and there are more places for dust to settle and hide. Purely practical.

Loads of friends with cluttered houses, don't care, love them, feel happy and at home there. But as a pure statement of fact, yes. Cluttered houses can be full of love and joy and creativity but they do tend to be less clean.

Who cares?!

sterile mass-produced showhome or messy grubby individual home, as long as you like yours, you don’t need to worry about anyone else’s.

I don’t personally see ‘really clean’ as a benchmark to strive to. I have too much else going on to obsess about a bit of dust.

Why would anyone care enough to start a thread about other people's housekeepping but not care enough to come back to the thread?

Why are you bothered?

Yeah how weird. Must work for the daily fail or something 🤷🏻‍♀️

Vulpine · 12/10/2022 21:36

A really clean house would have no family and no pets, and all the stuff that comes with then, it depends on what you call clutter

WhiteFire · 12/10/2022 23:31

I didn't see any particular judgement in the OP's post, lots of people being weirdly defensive though.

A few ornaments does not make a house cluttered, now does a mug tree or a few piles of things around, cluttered is when you can't use furniture either at all or only by clearing off a big pile of things. It is when the only space is in the middle of the room, getting to curtains involves reaching over a multitude of items or you have to move ten things to get to what you need.
