Things seem quite stressful in general for lots of people at the moment. Just wondering what small things people have done to try and improve their mental health and if it’s made an improvement for you?

Say no and stick to it.

Have my week planned so I'm not running around every evening getting ready for the following day.

Sharing house stuff and life stuff with my DH.

Will post more as I think of them

Goingforplatinum · 11/10/2022 20:55

Accepting that not always going to feel happy every day, and that's okay.

Whatacarryonthisis · 11/10/2022 20:55

Gusto
fortunate to be able to afford it but I don’t have to meal

Whatacarryonthisis · 11/10/2022 20:56

Meal plan or think about what we are having

ive also come off all social media which was hard at first but incredibly liberating

CatGrins · 11/10/2022 20:56

Very similar to above, got rid of commitments that I didn't enjoy. And a daily to do list, achievable and effective blnot everything I wish I could do to be perfect! Just enough to be organised and not stressed.

Whatacarryonthisis · 11/10/2022 20:58

Also I know this sounds a bit cringe but I got a gratitude journal
That really helped me stay present

Goingforplatinum · 11/10/2022 20:58

Turned off all news alerts and notifications from my phone.

Now I can read the news as and when I feel like it as apposed to having headlines in my face 24/7

GelatoQueen · 11/10/2022 20:59

Try to eat better. Tend to eat shite when I'm stressed, eg I snack as I think I have no time to stop and eat lunch. Feel so much better if I just bloody eat fruit and/or a salad or soup.

Rushingfool · 11/10/2022 21:01

Did a school lunch duty for 30 mins each day, outside, rain or shine. Made a significant difference.

lannistunut · 11/10/2022 21:02

Get the basics right - whole food, hydration, wearly nights, exercise, relaxing hobbies

lannistunut · 11/10/2022 21:02

wearly? = early

KylieCharlene · 11/10/2022 21:04

Mindfulness

No phone in bedroom. Too much phone before bed started giving me an anxious, rolling tummy and made my restless legs worse. This then impacted my sleep making me tired the next day. When I'm tired I eat crap food which makes me feel worse. When I'm tired I'm less productive at work which makes me frustrated and more restless. That one rules has a positive domino effect.

WhyCantPeopleBeNice · 11/10/2022 21:10

Get a good night sleep - I appreciate easier said than done but I recently took part in a Neom sleep trial, utilising their sleep tips, covering all sorts from wake up routines, not having caffeine after midday and it's made a huge difference.
I'm sleeping better which makes me better equipped to deal with each day and the tips force me to take small steps throughout the day to look after myself

jugon · 11/10/2022 21:11

Get plenty of sleep. I'm in bed by 10pm at the latest (often in bed at 9pm) and I fall asleep really quickly. I always wake up
before my alarm and feel so much better than when I used to stay up later and have to drag myself out of bed each morning.

Underthehills · 11/10/2022 21:11

Taking time out for a mental health day when necessary.

KangarooKenny · 11/10/2022 21:13

I dropped a day at work, it significantly helped my MH.
Virtually quitting alcohol has made me feel much less tired.
Good sleep routine including no stress/hassle after 9pm, and going to bed to read every day at 10pm.
Saying no is very freeing too.

PrunellaMcTat · 11/10/2022 21:14

Same as @SeptemberSon . No phone in my bedroom. Much better quality sleep now I'm not on my phone before bed or straight away in the morning. I read in bed before sleep instead.

Notplayingball · 11/10/2022 21:16

Antidepressants.

A walk daily.

Early to bed, early to rise. Up 6am every day.

Watchthesunrise · 11/10/2022 21:17

I dropped from 40 hours to 32. I just couldn't live well with a FT load.

redbigbananafeet · 11/10/2022 21:22

Sleep more x

expat101 · 11/10/2022 21:22

Reading a proper book or magazine as opposed to the computer or iPad…

Galaktoboureko · 11/10/2022 21:24

Quit my office job and start lifting weights

whistlingandwine · 11/10/2022 21:26

Journal.

1FootInTheRave · 11/10/2022 21:27

Thinking I'm going to back on sertraline tbh.

Life feels hard work atm and I'm pretty low in mood. Just waiting for ocd symptoms to kick off too. Just to add to the daily shit.
