Husband for dressing DD properly.

He got her dressed this morning. I usually get her dressed but I was fed up this morning because he woke us all up with this twenty five alarms that he keeps snoozing. He puts her in a sleeveless vest and a hoodie. She falls asleep and now I’m worried as she’s fallen asleep with a hood on and she’s only 18 months. I mention it to DH just to make him aware to not do it again, and he’s all like ‘what’s wrong with that’ and ‘that’s how I wear a hoodie’. I get really annoying. All I needed from him was a ‘sorry, didn’t think’ ‘won’t do it again’. I shout. He tells me to drop the attitude. I’m losing the plot with him today.

I don’t really understand. If it was an issue for her to fall asleep in her hoody then why didn’t you take the hoody off her before she went to sleep?

I would be fairly unimpressed with my partner if I got our daughter dressed and then he expected me to apologise for dressing her in the ‘wrong’ clothes.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/10/2022 15:35

I have no idea what the issue is here? A vest and a hoodie sounds okay. I might i have put a t shirt on too but it's not too cold out today. I don't understand the sleeping in a hood problem.

Hummusontoast · 10/10/2022 15:39

Because it’s dangerous

And I didn’t get a chance to remove it.

sandytooth · 10/10/2022 15:41

Why didn't you take it of earlier or indeed now if you think it is dangerous?

LIZS · 10/10/2022 15:41

Dangerous as in? If you are worried she is hot gently the hood off her head. Did you not see her before her nap?

sandytooth · 10/10/2022 15:42

And learn to communicate withiut without shouting

Parky04 · 10/10/2022 15:43

Poor DH. I bet he never does anything right!

Banana2079 · 10/10/2022 15:44

Wearing a Hoodie for an 18 month old isn’t dangerous..
You are being unreasonable

schloop · 10/10/2022 15:44

Why is wearing a hoodie dangerous?

Whatacarryonthisis · 10/10/2022 15:45

Just take it off
or neurotically sit next to her until she wakes if you don’t want to wake her up

assuming they’ll be a drip feed coming as clearly there is more going on here

notdaddycool · 10/10/2022 15:45

Poor man, poor kid, but not for the reasons you think

BertieQueen · 10/10/2022 15:46

Take it the op has seen something about wearing hoodies is dangerous for young children to fall asleep in?

personally haven’t seen anything and my son use to fall asleep with hoodies on all the time when he was younger.

decafsoyaflatwhite · 10/10/2022 15:46

Hummusontoast · 10/10/2022 15:39

Because it’s dangerous

It’s hard to tell whether she’s currently asleep from your post, or whether she’s awake again now. If she’s awake again now then she was obviously fine, and if she’s still asleep and you’re that concerned then wake her up.

You’re hugely overreacting.

MissPinkCakeyBun · 10/10/2022 15:48

What's the hoodie made of Live 🐊? How on earth is a hoodie that dangerous? And if you honest looking believe it is just remove it..... it won't be the last time you have to wake your child up

JenniferBarkley · 10/10/2022 15:49

I think a hoody would be ok a 18 months, she's not a newborn.

AryaStarkWolf · 10/10/2022 15:50

If you think it's dangerous why does she own any hoodies? (never heard of anyone thinking an 18 month old falling asleep in a hoody was dangerous though

cranberrymilkshake · 10/10/2022 15:51

How is it dangerous?? It's absolutely fine and how I used to dress my toddlers all the time 🤷‍♀️
They are still alive 10 years later...

negomi90 · 10/10/2022 15:54

I've seen millions of children sleeping in buggies in winter with coats and hoods on. Didn't occur to me it was dangerous.

fitnessmummy · 10/10/2022 15:54

I see your point, it baby turned head sideways the hood could cover the face. Hoodies are not exactly ideal for sleeping in especially for young babies. But maybe you reaction could have been calmer- with an explanation. Some of these comments are a bit harsh I must say!

Soubriquet · 10/10/2022 15:55

Its fine! Shes 18 months not 18 weeks.

I also bet dh doesn’t do anything right unless he does exactly what you tell him every time

ShadowPuppets · 10/10/2022 15:55

If DH had put down a 3mo in a load of jumpers then fair enough - and I say that as a woman with a perfectly competent DH but I have had to remind him a few times about no coats when they’re in car seats.

But at 18m? Not a big deal at all. You’re really overreacting.

This.

luxxlisbon · 10/10/2022 15:58

If you think it’s dangerous why do you have a hoodie for her in the first place when she’s going to be napping for ages?

That aside I really don’t think it’s dangerous for a 1 and a half year old.

You can’t control everything and then complain that you do everything. Relax the control and get your husband to get her ready more in the mornings.

My DH gets DD dressed for nursery pretty much every week day. Does she sometimes wear a weird combination of clothes that I wouldn’t pick? Definitely!!
Does matter if she wears leggings under dresses instead of tights or mix match pattered clothes? Not at all! And I get to have a coffee and a bit of a relax in the morning.

A hoodie covering their face would not be a danger to an 18mo. They would instinctively move their head if their face was covered.
