I'm panicking a bit as I've had a drink tonight (just one medium glass of wine) and I've just taken my prescription sleeping tablet without thinking (promethazine). I'm on my own with a baby tonight. Was this a stupid idea?? I'm massively panicking after a quick google told me I could end up unconscious?! I'm a highly anxious person please don't judge me 😞

Not a problem at all, that's the same as a dose in night nurse which lots of people take. You can buy it over the counter, it's pretty mild. Don't worry!

Sunnyqueen · 07/10/2022 21:09

You'll be fine it's only an antihistamine. Just get an early night.

motleymop · 07/10/2022 21:11

It will all be fine. Even better if the baby lets you have a nice sleep.

I take a bigger dose than this and occasionally have a glass of wine too (it’s never occurred to me not to). It’s never stopped me waking up if I needed to. I’d get an early night and not worry about it.

I have been prescribed 75mg before and had more than one glass of wine. I hope you are ok.

PoopySalata · 07/10/2022 21:15

This is my logical answer....

Promethazine is basically a sedating antihistamine, it's not a proper sleeping tablet (I used to take it).. You've had one glass of wine on top, that's probably two units of alcohol if it was a normal sized glass.

So stay awake until 11pm if you are worried and most of the alcohol will have cleared your system. The baby will let you know if he needs you overnight.

Don’t ring 111 what a stupid idea, you will be fine with one small drink and that dose you don’t have a tiny baby a d don’t beat yourself up

Honestly, I understand you are feeling worried but you will be absolutely fine. Now if you'd had a bottle of wine then I'd be giving different advice but please don't worry about this, you will be fine. Enjoy your sleep.
