I’m so fed up of other peoples actions and behaviour affecting my life - that’s aside from the general doom and gloom we’re all facing at the moment.

Some of the things that piss me off daily:

Selfish idiots on public transport playing music or having loud conversations

People driving way below the speed limit on perfectly safe roads

Noisy eaters

Increasingly poor service in shops and businesses (realise this isn’t always the fault of the customer-facing staff)

Inconsiderate neighbours making noise and smoking weed

The fact nobody can be bothered to keep our work environment pleasant - the kitchen and loo are just grim to use

Mumsnet’s lack of capitalisation when you start a new paragraph

Like a lot of people I’ve had a tough few years. I’m in a much better place now and I just want to live my own life quietly with as little stress as possible. I realise the above are minor compared to what some people are facing but to me they feel significant and have a real impact on my life. I try to be a decent considerate person, why can’t others do the same?

This totally pisses me off. I thought it was just my phone, so it’s a relief to know it’s a Mumsnet fault!

It's a limit, not a target.

caringcarer · 07/10/2022 17:28

I had to sit in car behind Mr Happy who let no fewer than 5 other vehicles in ahead of him. Then when I finally got to front of queue the lights changed. This, on a very busy roundabout with 5 junctions so had to wait ages for light to go green again. Rant over

caringcarer · 07/10/2022 17:29

Let these 5 other vehicles in when it was our right of way.

Yeah but driving yoo slow can get you points for driving without due care.
Doing 30 on 50 road is just unsafe and suggest a driver who shouldn't be on that (or maybe any) road

InCheesusWeTrust · 07/10/2022 17:49

For example

Shortkiwi · 07/10/2022 17:50

I’m the same OP. I get irritated by others easily, I wish I didn’t. It’s hard to let it go if you’ve always been like this. Some people just seem to have a lack of awareness and consideration for others. I really wish I could live by the mantra ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff’!

EndlessMagpies · 07/10/2022 17:57

The speed limit is just that - a maximum limit. It is not a target, and people are not obliged to drive at the speed limit.

30 on a 50 is not inherently unsafe. I know NSL roads that aren't safe to drive at over 40mph at any point along their length, or above 30mph for long stretches.

Julia234 · 07/10/2022 18:36

I suppose they’re all just trying to live their lives as well, just in a way you don’t approve of.

Then I am assuming everyone is doing the same speed on the NSLs.

Ok. Forgot about buts.
Going 30 on standard 50 road where everyone is going 45-50 can be unsafe for everyone around.

Softplayhooray · 07/10/2022 18:50

A580Hojas · 07/10/2022 14:27

That's a long list. I'd try and unclench a bit and count your blessings.

This OP, and meant nicely. Some people will always be bloody annoying but you just need to proactively try to ignore them (audible on your commute? etc) and also do some self care stuff like gym, vitamin supplements, don't drink much, etc, to put yourself in a happier frame of mind. They are little things you list, sounds like you're maybe a bit burnt out if they're getting to you this much.

Ahh... summer touring, can't wait to get back on the road again...

😂😂😂😂

ImustLearn2Cook · 08/10/2022 03:12

Going way below the speed limit when the conditions of the road (traffic, weather etc.) don’t warrant it is an obstruction and it is not good driving. As I mentioned earlier people can technically be fined for it here in Australia as it is a traffic offence. I don’t know anyone who has been fined and a lot of people don’t seem to know that it is a traffic offence.

Driving too slow does not make you a good driver or a safer driver.

Driving requires skill and being an obstruction to other drivers is not driving with skill.

Speed and concentration are not the only factors in car accidents. I think lack of skill, lack in knowing how to handle the vehicle you are driving and a complete lack of understanding of the physics of driving.

Tail gating is another huge bug bear of mine. I don’t care how good you think you are at driving or how amazing your brake system is. You can not defy physics. Your stopping distance is relative to the size and weight of your vehicle, the speed you are doing and the conditions on the road (wet, dry, sealed, unsealed).

And driving however the fuck you like, as if it is your own private road, without any consideration or awareness of others on the road is a dangerous attitude leading to unsafe driving.

I will never, ever forget the fatal accident I saw on a mountain road. That image will never be erased. The driver of one of the vehicles was clearly dead. Horrible. It really emphasises to me how important it is to actually know how to drive with skill.

petpig · 08/10/2022 03:16

You sound like you drive a white Audi

Berlinlover · 08/10/2022 03:25

I’m the same as you OP, other people drive me insane every day of the week. I blame the perimenopause and hope all this passes in time.

mycatisannoying · 08/10/2022 06:13

YANBU.

WonderingWanda · 08/10/2022 06:27

I get it op. Life is so busy and frantic and sometimes I can become very irritated by the selfish habits of others. I find a nice walk in an empty forest helps reset me and I can be more tolerant again.

Things that have pissed me off recently. People double parking so you can barely fit a car through. Seeing men picking their nose while driving. People that pull out without indicating or pull out about a mile before they need to over take. People that park badly so you can't fit in the space next to them. People who don't wash their hands. People who can't be bothered to rsvp to a child's birthday invite. People who turn up late to collect their kids from school trips. School children who refuse to pick up their rubbish..... I think I need to go for an urgent forest walk this morning!!!

yerdaindicatesonbends · 08/10/2022 06:27

I mean a lot of things would annoy me too, but not to the point it ruins my day. Loud chewing does however target a part of my brain that makes me feel violent and I too cannot fathom why mumsnet doesn’t capitalise!

And whilst slow drivers annoy me a little there is a special place in hell, specifically for Audi and BMW drivers, who insist on seeing every bit of dust on my parcel shelf.

yerdaindicatesonbends · 08/10/2022 06:31

@WonderingWanda Oh my god when did the courtesy to RSVP disappear from society! It is the one the main reasons I am considering never throwing another birthday party for DD. And I don’t know what’s worse, not hearing anything, or people RSVPing the day before.

InCheesusWeTrust · 08/10/2022 08:44

I think the world is too loud. There is NEVER no noise.
Cars, people, electronic devices hum, fridge hum, this and that.
It's never silent, it is getting worse and I think it makes lots of us sometimes just at the end of our tethers.

There is never silence.
