Late Evening Charity Door Knockers

The scenario. Two kids in bed, one 7 the other 5 so both up early tomorrow as it’s a school night.

Sitting watching the TV and at 8.50pm the doorbell goes, dog of course goes mad and I open the door only to be met with two smiley 20 somethings wanting me to sign up for a monthly charity donation.

I’ve now got a dog going bonkers, two kids that were fast asleep standing at the top of the stairs wanting to know what’s going on and two annoyingly smug chuggers trying to squeeze money out of my already tight budget.

By the time they’d had my lecture about not knocking on doors after 7pm and telling them to sling their hooks of our estate they probably wish they hadn’t have bothered.

Is there no law that stops these people knocking so late, I can’t believe any charity would expect this kind of behaviour.

Am I being unreasonable?

Ridiculous, I'd be complaining to the charity 🤷🏼‍♀️ after closing the door PDQ.

There is never a good time to be accosted on your own doorstep by chuggers, as far as I am concerned.
Nothing is more likely to get a charity on my shit list. Other than continuously phoning to see if I want to increase an existing donation.

I have a "No Cold Callers" notice on my door, to which I can silently point, at whatever time of day. The most stunning answer I ever got when I asked why the caller had ignored this, was "Sorry, I can't read".
Being in a "No Cold Callers" zone doesn't always work, so the next step is to ask for details of the charity concerned, telling them that I plan to complain.
I donate to charity regularly, but my choice and certainly not door to door.

Get a 'no cold callers' sticker - really cheap on Amazon.

I may be wrong but I think “cut off” is 9pm, which is ridiculous! I’m often heading for bed then lol!! I was told this by a smug charity worker just before 9pm. He regretted it & was reported - mainly for his rudeness.

I have a no cold calling sticker & it does work, if someone is brave enough to knock I ask if they can read, point & close the door!

OMG this happened to us tonight 😁

My partner and I were having some sexy time upstairs when the door knocked, I was expecting an amazon parcel so threw my partner his clothes and asked him to answer the door, he ran down stairs answering the door all sweaty looking and smelling of sex, fully expecting to take a parcel in and that be it, however there was 2 men there trying to sign him up for a charity. He was talking to them for like 20 minutes, they were very persistent!

It was a very annoying interruption to our evening🤣🤣🤣

We’ve had this too. Was it WWF? They’ve been to my house 4 times this evening (I can see them on the cctv) and I’ve ignored it every time. I was thinking of complaining to the charity.

I wish my evening had been that exciting, my partner was in a girls night out so sexy time had to wait until she returned.

Thanks for the advice regarding the sign everyone, I’ve seen them but didn’t think they worked but worthy of an investment
