To buy my dc an age inappropriate toy?

Dc are 8 and 12 and for months have been obsessed with a toddler toy in the local toy shop. They have created in jokes with it and spend ages laughing about it while we're in the shop and still talk about it at home!

I think it would make a great funny present for Christmas - it's not something they need and it isn't expensive but I know they will play with it.

Their dad says we shouldn't buy it because they aren't babies anymore, but he sounds a bit Scrooge-like to me. It's just something fun and they will be so surprised to get it.

Aww, I’d buy it if it’s bring them joy.

For what it’s worth, my 9 year old was fawning over a Vtech dog the other day…

What is it? So intrigued.

Yes do it, what harm would be done. Your DH seems like a right misery guts.

Buy it for the wee children! My Garen, 20 now bless his heart, was only 5 when he last wanted a toy that was for a wee one and it filled him with such joy !

Something already bringing them together and entertaining them. I would (children can get so much that isn't asked for/wanted at Christmas so why not get something wanted).

It's a little keyboard that makes cat noises. They just think it's hilarious. My youngest is cat obsessed which is why they like it and my eldest plays piano (and we have a real piano at home - which is why their dad says it's not necessary) but surely that just means my eldest can get more out of it than the average toddler! 😆

Years ago I bought a minions fart gun as a last minute present when the eldest dc decided it was the thing they absolutely couldn't live without that Christmas - and it's still played with to this day, so I think I'll be trusting my gut on this one.

DS1 (15) has just spent his own money on a small Jellycat dinosaur. I say go for it - if it makes them laugh then it's worth it

Definitely buy it. The best part about being a sibling is sharing those silly moments together and acting like goofballs.
