To think I can earn money in school holidays?

Basically, I’m a teacher and I need to supplement my income. I’ve been looking into tutoring, but I just don’t see how I can fit it in during term time; I’m insanely busy with full-time work plus two children and all their activities. Is it reasonable to think there’s a decent amount to be made over summer and Easter holidays either in terms of tutoring or other enterprises that I haven’t thought of?? Has anyone done this?

NB I cannot, cannot do exam board marking. I’d rather die.

Yes definitely. Are you primary or secondary?

KindergartenKop · 04/10/2022 16:40

Buuuut, what happens to your own kids while you do this?

Could you work in a holiday club or similar where they might give a discount for your children. Otherwise with the cost of childcare would it make it viable/worthwhile working?

Thanks so much for the responses. My husband is also a teacher, so we have all the holidays off together - should be easy enough to juggle childcare 👍

One of our local holiday clubs is staffes by teachers, student teachers etc. Definitely worth a look about there I'd say 😊

If you live in an 11+ area you could do group tuition for y5/6s.

What age group? and how would you feel about nannying?

we hired a temp nanny to help us over the school holidays - £15 an hour and she just had to play with/entertain our kids.
