Incredibly unlikely even if you knew your partner was living with HIV. I work in HIV care. I’ve never used a condom for oral. The risk is so, so very low, especially in heterosexual communities, and especially now with most people on treatment and undetectable. But it’s always good to get tested, just make sure you also test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, etc as those are far more likely.

It would be like getting a rabies jab after being licked by a puppy in Wigan.

I’m sorry but this made me properly lol. 😂

OP, as everyone has said, it’s so very unlikely. Please try not to worry.

It’s a blood to blood or semen. So in order for you to have caught it you would need cuts in your mouth and gif him to have cuts on his Willy. and there would need yo be substantial amount of blood passed and for his viral load to be high. You can get it through vaginal sex but even then chances are lower but it’s more transmittable through anal sex as the skin is thinner and more delicate there.

i highly doubt you would have caught it. xxxx

@HIVpos

There we go everyone it can make you sick.

You said that PEP can make you really sick. I mentioned there can be side effects like nausea, headaches and tiredness that can be managed (ie eating a slice of toast, taking painkillers and resting). We shouldn’t scaremonger where someone reading might find themselves in an at risk situation and are too scared to take PEP due to thinking they’ll be really poorly.

@HIVpos

Oh for goodness sake, I'm sure if someone is worried about HIV having side effects it's a non issue

HIVpos · 06/10/2022 09:51

Reading that the pills can make you really sick can be actually and has put others off from taking them who should have. Just as people who’ve been diagnosed read stories about side effects and don’t want to take the pills. They are really well tolerated nowadays. This is an area I volunteer in.

I’ll leave it there as it’s detracting from the OP’s post where there was very little to no risk - as mentioned in the rabies jab puppy analogy which made me laugh too 😁

TBH you'd be at more risk of HPV or herpes... unless you have cuts in your mouth. Worth having a full STD screening if you're having unprotected encounters.

ShahRukhKhan · 06/10/2022 10:27

I wouldn't worry about it. If you were to test for anything, I would order a home test for chlamydia or gonorrhea in the throat. You can do it yourself at home.
