£33,064 - £43,000 For a “junior” glorified admin role!! I don’t even get that much in a year in my job!!

We pay £30k for new graduates.

This role is for an experienced administrator with knowledge of GDPR, and compliance and governance around vehicle finance. No surprise it pays more.

lafado · 03/10/2022 18:38

See a well paid job as something society should be offering everyone ❎

Criticize the pay as too much because you are paid less ✅

theemmadilemma · 03/10/2022 18:41

It might say Junior, however it's certainly not a Junior/starter role. I expect it's because they have Senior positions in that role too.

That's quite varied role with good experience and sector experience necessary.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2022 18:42

The OP is a tories wet dream!! Rather than push for better conditions for all the OP would rather everyone stay with the bare minimum!

SleeplessInEngland · 03/10/2022 18:44

Why do you give a shit, op?

PeekAtYou · 03/10/2022 18:46

Have you considered the possibility that you are underpaid rather than the person in this job is overpaid ? 🤔

TBOM · 03/10/2022 18:29

I work in that area, and that's what you need to pay. And you have no idea what you're talking about when you say it's just an admin role, it requires a huge amount of organisational skill.

Yup. And we pay more than that.
Senior admin is significantly over £50k.

Part of my role requires the firm to be absolutely on top of (and better than) many areas of regulatory / legal compliance.
So I need to know that the people responsible for a lot of the administration do exactly as required and to schedule.

It's often high pressure with tight deadlines and absolute attention to detail is required at all times without exception.
Plus general organisation, prioritisation and critical thinking skills are important.

Trust and accountability are vital in the roles - I can't afford to work with monkeys... so I don't pay peanuts.

Hope that helps OP :)

Or the possibility that our OP is paid the market rate and just under skilled?

PicaK · 03/10/2022 18:59

The job description is the important bit. It's underpaid if anything.
Don't get hung up on job titles.
There's a hell of a difference from just being told to book something to actively monitoring the budget

kegofcoffee · 03/10/2022 19:00

It's doesn't look like a lower rung admin role. Understanding of GDPR and compliance implies there is a reasonable level of responsibility.

I've worked with many an admin who are worth waaaaaaaay more than £45k to a company.

Many companies would fall apart if their good, experienced admin left.

DragonflyNights · 03/10/2022 19:00

It’s an officer role which can mean a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. And even if it was an admin role, why do you care?

MickeyMouseEars · 03/10/2022 19:01

Judging by that job spec, it doesn't pay enough if you ask me!

maddiemookins16mum · 03/10/2022 19:02

You clearly have no idea what junior admin roles are if you think this is one.

kegofcoffee · 03/10/2022 19:02

'Just a junior admin role really'

I've been in the workplace for 20 years, mainly in office roles. I've managed teams and run my own business.

I definitely couldn't do that role

This.

Naimee87 · 03/10/2022 19:12

I work as a team admin in a HUGE company with varying levels/titles. (Personally HATE it!) Having read this job description though its far more detailed/responsibility heavy than my role and would probably be advertised as a ‘Business Operations Manager or Team Logistics Coordinator’. Ugh! Either way all these types of roles, mine included are so dull I cannot wait to leave such nonsensical corporate crap behind me.

aliloandabanana · 03/10/2022 19:12

We employ a qualified solicitor to deal with our compliance and GDPR matters, among many other things which are specific to our sector - just because the word administration is mentioned in a job advert doesn't mean it's a low level job! Look at everything else that's involved.

luxxlisbon · 03/10/2022 19:13

ParadeOfLights · 03/10/2022 18:26

Because it’s just a junior admin role really

If you think it’s such a junior basic job why don’t you apply for it then if you earn so much less?
I don’t really get your problem.

Loics · 03/10/2022 19:18

Maybe you need to stop settling for your disappointing salary OP, and be glad that at least some companies pay their staff fairly (which will hopefully encourage others to do the same). Apply for the job if you think it'd be easy money (and do let us know how you get on 🤭).

LaurieFairyCake · 03/10/2022 19:19

I couldn't do that

And currently earn twice that

StealingYourWiFi · 03/10/2022 19:21

Apply for it then

Oblomov22 · 03/10/2022 19:24

It's not a junior admin role at all. The budgeting, 'future strategy and investment', governance.

I think it's a low salary for such a position.

NoSquirrels · 03/10/2022 19:25

I would absolutely HATE that job and think is definitely fairly paid - it’s not ‘just junior admin’, is it? Did you read the job description, or just the job title?

Fladdermus · 03/10/2022 19:27

Are you always sneery towards admin workers or just the ones who get paid more than you?

Ski4130 · 03/10/2022 19:28

I’m an administrator and don’t get paid that much, that’s because that job goes way above what I do, or am responsible for.

I’m not sure a) why you seem sneery about admin roles or b) how you can read that job description and think for one minute it’s equivalent to a junior admin role!
