Talk me down as I feel like I’m being unreasonable

I hurt my back 10 days ago lifting something up too quickly, the pain of it made me want to vomit and pass out at the same time, I’m waiting on an MRI app.

Its progressively got worse with a numb knee and thigh all towards the front and only on my left leg, nothing at the back, and a very significant leg weakness on my left side (as described by the doctor)

Walking and standing were manageable but now the pain is just constant and in such a specific area lower left hand side, hip, groin and stomach all on my left hand side.

I do not have any numbness around my saddle area or issues with toilet.

im on strong painkillers but getting very worried now, gp, physio and chiro are confused by my presentation and have ruled out sciatica.

Im getting worse and today was pretty bad, I’ve never been to A&E in my 37 years of life but I’m seriously considering it.

Has anyone has similar.

I would ring 111,and let them go through their checklist, and decide if A/E is necessary. Are you thinking if going because you are worried it is something serious or for pain relief? Unfortunately, if you make your own way there, hoping for pain relief, you will likely have a very long and miserable wait. 111 may save you that experience.

If you have a nerve root entrapment it does not have to have pain down the back of your leg. I have just had surgery for this and all my pain was down the front of my leg. The fact that it is on one side is usual - the disc is protruding on that side. I too had hip pain, groin pain and pain in my side. All (well almost all) gone now!! But I am being very very careful!

If you can afford it a private MRI will get the ball rolling - the shorter time you are on strong pain relief the better.

Good question, I don’t know why I’m going actually. I feel like I’ve really really done something but no idea what. I’m worried about the leg weakness and numbness aswel.

Thankyou, mostly everything I’ve googled said the back of the leg not the front so thanks for your input.

im waiting on my GP sending my private referral which in on his to do list…

Im assuming an MRI would show nerve issues?
