Tested positive for the second time , just wondering now there aren’t really any measures what people are doing when they have tested positive? I’m going to work from home and not go out and about for the next few days but people seem to be going out as normal

Depends on you and your situation. Mostly I just tell people and let them make their own mind uo (e.g., "DC has had covid, I'm negative so far but do you still want to meet up for lunch or would you rather wait?"), also do the usual stuff I'd do when I'm unwell - limit my contacts, avoid vulnerable people, etc but not the whole hog of self-isolating

Saying "people seem to be going about as normal" seems very 2020 ish. Who are all these "people" and how do you know they have covid? A lot aren't testing in any case.

Fwiw I have a nasty cold/virus and am testing negative but have still arranged to wfh for the time being. Appreciate not everyone can do this.

YellowTreeHouse · 03/10/2022 11:08

Pretty much nobody is still testing.

Basically it’s the same as any illness, if you feel well enough to go out and about, do so. If you don’t, don’t.

Don't hide away if you feel fine or want to go out. There’s no need.

StrawberrySquash · 03/10/2022 11:08

In my work people are WFH of the they have it. I'd expect anyone with the ability to do so to WFH and would be pretty annoyed if someone came out to lunch with me after testing positive. Anywhere I did have to be around people I'd do my best to open windows and would wear an FFP2.

The UK gov guidance seems to be that if you have any respiratory infection to avoid going out and mixing with people, which is ridiculous because people can't just stop doing stuff because they have a cold.

CheezePleeze · 03/10/2022 11:14

I tested positive this morning (second time), so I'll be working from home this week.

We only test because quite a few staff are vulnerable or live with people who are. Plus we have a big stack of tests that all staff have access to.

Arenanewbie · 03/10/2022 11:15

How these people who have it know that they have exactly it? We all have a virus atm looks like usual cold with runny nose, sneezing, a bit of scratchy throat. We haven’t done any tests, staying at home today but it’s more because we are not exactly functional, DD always stayed at home with this level of cold pre Covid.

Hbh17 · 03/10/2022 11:16

Well, most people aren't testing so - assuming you feel OK - I suggest you just ignore it & carry on as normal.
