To think there's no way I'll be able to get this autograph for my son?

So my son is 13 and absolutely obsessed with Tom Holland. For Christmas he is absolutely desperate to get Tom Holland autograph and while I'm not fully convinced I'll be able to do this, I want to give it my best shot.

I looked on eBay and there are some 'genuine' ones but how the hell do you know if they are genuine? There's one for £100 for example....but it seems to risky to spend on something that I don't know if it's authentic or not.

Just to add...my sons autistic, he still believes in Santa and thinks Santa can bring him absolutely anything he asks! He did want original Pokémon cards that sell for ££££'a but we've managed to settle on this blooming autograph instead.

I've looked at fan mail addresses - most seem to be in the states.

Anyone ever done this with 'proper famous' people before and had success?

Check out The Brothers Trust website - a fundraising website run by Tom Holland and his family. They have signed pictures for sale - very expensive, but at least you'd know they are genuine. They also have cheaper, digitally signed photos, so not quite the same as a 'real' one, but maybe ok?

Tweet him or his management? Or his dad? 😁

beepboop83 · 03/10/2022 10:00

Based on a very brief google, these appear to be his agents: www.wmeagency.com/offices/

You could try writing to the London office with a pre-paid return envelope with a very polite request explaining that it would make your son's Christmas - they might just have a pile of pre-signed cards they'd be able to pop in the envelope and send straight back to you.

(I have no idea if this will work or not for actors but it does usually work with F1 drivers, so worth a shot!!)

Might also be worth writing to a fan club? Not sure where though! My DHs friend did this with a Premier League football club - he sent a letter, photos and a SAE direct to the football club, and got personalised autographs for my DH's birthday from some top named footballers. My DH was absolutely blow away with it. All for the cost of a stamp.

A signed photo costs a celebrity very little. I wouldn't be surprised if you contacted his agent and explained the circumstances that they sent you one anyway.

Thank you, didn't know that existed! I'll have a look at that now.

Yes I've seen the photo copy type ones but I don't think I could go through with it knowing it's not real!

Thank you so much! I looked at this website but i thought it was only American based! I'll send them a letter and keep everything crossed.

Ahh this is so lovely! I hope I have the same outcome - especially with the cost of living at the moment. He would absolutely love it!

Tweet and send fan mail explaining the situation.

You might be lucky.

PorkPieAndAPickledOnion · 03/10/2022 10:11

If he’s appearing at any conventions, anywhere, you can usually order one to be sent to you. It will cost but you’ll know it’s genuine.

This. I’m not on Twitter but I imagine it would be acknowledged.

Sonnex · 03/10/2022 10:16

My 11 year old loves Tom Holland too, hero worship. I'm interested to hear how this turns out because I'm hoping he's a really nice guy who will do this for your son as I don't think I could beatbitbif he's not 😁

Sonnex · 03/10/2022 10:16

Bear it

FilthyforFirth · 03/10/2022 10:22

Also worth seeing if he is doing any radio interviews. I imagine someone like Greg James would love to help you out with this.

I also suggest twitter. I got a famous footballer to sign a vintage shirt for DH by asking him on twitter. He responded almost immediately and put me in touch with his agent.

Good luck, you sound an awesome mum!

Afterfire · 03/10/2022 10:25

I know this isn’t really in the spirit of things but if you did buy one and it was fake would your son know…? My son is 10 and still believes in FC and the tooth fairy and whatever else (he has autism and learning disabilities) and if I got him a cheap autograph and said it was genuine he’d absolutely 💯 believe that it was … 🙈🙈😁

getal · 03/10/2022 10:26

Right I'm jointing twitter! Thank you all - takes me back to my childhood days of writing to certain male pop stars convincing them it was me who was actually their biggest fan!

Yes my son would too! This probably will be my very last resort but for now I have a bit of time to try. He would absolutely believe it but I don't know if I could deal with the guilt knowing the truth!

I understand. It’s worth a shot! Good luck 💐

Noteverybodylives · 03/10/2022 10:44

I would just get a photocopy one.

He won’t know the difference and you’ll worry less about him ruining it.

I think genuine signed photos are only good if they physically sign them in front of you themselves.

So I’d buy a photocopy for now and then try and get him to sign a real one one day.

getal · 03/10/2022 10:50

So I've just tweeted Toms dad 😂 I have no idea what I'm doing but at least I've tried.

I will send a letter to a couple of other suggestions too. Thanks everyone - I'll pop back on here if I get anywhere with it!

OP posts:
Nightynightnight · 03/10/2022 12:00

Don't photocopy. At some point he might actually get a real copy and he might know the difference and be annoyed you lied to him.

Yeah I don't want to do that to him, he's so sensitive and would be genuinely very hurt if he ever found out. So all I can do is try my very best!

It is “digitally signed” but authentic and not that expensive at £35

@getal Best of luck.
I hope he finds the time and heart to reply.

I know it's awful but if you can't could you forge it? Xx
