Please, O wise mumsnetters, help me in my hour of need.

Organising a birthday party for DD4, and putting together some snack boxes for the kids to eat. The contents will be a sandwich, carrot sticks, a pack of party rings and a box of raisins. Photo of box attached.

In addition (and this is the contentious bit, buckle up) there will be a couple of cocktail sausages or chicken bites or veggie alternative. Now, DP is quite content for the sausages/bites to roll around freely in the box. I think this is fundamentally wrong and they should be in a little pot or bag to avoid getting everything else greasy. We'll be making the boxes at home and transporting to the venue, if that makes a difference.

YANBU - DP is crazy to let the sausages roam free in the box, they need to go in a pot so all the other stuff doesn't get sausage-y, LTB.

YABU - get over yourself, it's fine for the sausages to roll around, it's just a food box.

I'm not sure about the carrot sticks being free range either. Maybe you could include a napkin and fold it into a hammock for the sausage and carrots to recline on?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 01/10/2022 23:21

They need to be bagged up, the carrot sticks too. You can get paper or plastic small snack bags .

Patapouf · 01/10/2022 23:25

Little paper bags!!

Cats23 · 01/10/2022 23:34

Could just offer the sausages ect on a tray and place in middle of table/around to the kids

Hairymaery · 01/10/2022 23:36

Why can the sani have freedom but not the sausage? Don't get the point of the boxes at all tbh, can't you just do a buffet?

Cocorico22 · 01/10/2022 23:46

Bags it is then!

@Hairymaery no way will the sarnie be roaming free either, that would be outrageous. We're doing boxes because of allergies and hopefully to make life easier for cleaning... am I just being naive though?!

Do paper bags. No plastic obviously!
