People constantly trying to haggle prices

I bought an item 2 months ago for £550. I'm selling it to put money towards my credit card debt and I've put it on various selling platforms.
I originally listed it for £425 but had zero replies. Now put it for £350 which is the absolute lowest I'm prepared to go, otherwise there's not much point and I'll be making a huge loss.
It's something I bought from Argos and I've included a link to the page so people can see all the info, also has warranty included.
I know things depreciate but it's only 2 months old.
I've had various messages with people trying to knock £100 off my price which is ridiculous. I just ignore them.
I had a guy who was supposed to come to look at it but then told me , "Not sure if I'm coming yet as a guy in Leeds is showing me one. And he's selling it for an absolute steal, it's an offer too good to miss!"
I couldn't care less tbh, clearly cringy attempt to get me to go, "hey wait a minute, I can offer you a cheaper price!"
Might just take it off the sites, I'd rather keep it than sell it for £200 when it was worth £550.
Not sure what's the lowest I should sell it for.

I'd hold on for Xmas or New Years resolutions if you aren't desperate for the money

MbatataOwl · 01/10/2022 14:53

Why don't you just sell it to a pawn shop?

OhmygodDont · 01/10/2022 14:53

The warranty won’t be transferable so honestly no matter how new it is it depends on how important the warranty is. For something over £200 I want a warranty on that type of item.

Sorry op but it's worth £550 new from a shop, as soon as it becomes second hand (even in good condition) it loses a significant amount if it's value. Could you have a look on ebay to see what similar items are selling for that might help to calibrate your expectations.

Plus most people expect to haggle on gumtree/ market place. I would assume any price listed isn't the final price the seller expects to get.

The first rule of selling stuff is that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

This.

No one cares about your debt. If you need to sell it, you need to price it for sale.

DogInATent · 01/10/2022 15:07

Never mind what you paid for it at Argos, how much would it cost someone to buy new now (from anywhere)? Argos is rarely the cheapest place to buy from
and retail prices can change rapidly.

Think about the interest of your card…

you could sell it now for £250 and pay that off the balance, and the bill next month will have lower interest

Or you could hold out for £300 or even £350
if no one buys it, that’s another month of a larger credit card debt costing you more interest

Leave it a few months and waiting for the £50 could easily cost you more than £50 in extra interest payments

So rather than (weirdly) thinking someone is taking advantage of you not wanting to pay full whack for a second hand bike, think about how the bank is taking advantage with their interest charge, and pay off the balance as soon as you can…

Did you ad state no offers?

My husband once listed one of his many motorcycles for sale, stated the price with no offers. Had a few messages from a guy who eventually drives 250 miles with a trailer to look at the bike. after inspection he then offered £250 less than advertised.. husband wheeled bike into garage, sand goodbye and cane back in the house. Bloke knocked and rang a few tines, then left...

Can you trade it in somewhere instead?
